quade 4 #5 January 9, 2013 QuoteWanna bet? Sure. Never is a long time and it's possible we'd both die before the end of time, so let's just make it during 2013 to keep it reasonable. What did you have in mind as far as a wager goes? Humiliation or monetary?quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

What did you have in mind as far as a wager goes? Humiliation or monetary? You said never and I pointed out that it was hardly without precedent. If you get down to specifics (e.g., 2013), the real problem is a coin with inherent value. As fiat currency, the US Dollar is not worth the paper on which it is printed. Since currency originates electronically as a "loan" from the Fed, its inherent value is that of an IOU email.
quade 4 #7 January 9, 2013 Regardless, neither you nor I will ever see this "trillion dollar coin" minted in our lifetimes. That's as close to never as is worth talking about.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

The Deutsche Mark was every bit as well backed as is the US Dollar. I had a lot of Eastern Bloc money. 1700 Zloty to the dollar. Beer was less than a penny a glass and University Professors got $4 a month salary. It was almost like money was free. Zloty is more valuable now: 30 cents to the dollar. If your ever lucky enough to have one in your pocket and your purchased a Hamberger for $2.50 with Fries at $1.25 and a Large 32 OZ. drink for $2.50 how much change would you be getting back? Second part of my question...How many people would you need to help you carry the change back to your car(s).
