Giffords Makes a Push on Gun Control

Recommended Posts

Just heard Mr. Giffords on the radio. Said both he and his wife are gun owners and they believe in the 2nd Amend. He also said gov't needs a way to KEEP GUNS OUT OF THE HANDS OF THOSE WHO SHOULDN'T HAVE THEM, referencing the mentally ill. Nothing about restrictions to guns.

But here: the liberal WSJ says Giffords advocate gun control which is much different from what I heard Mr. Giffords talk about.

Can't wait to hear what Mrs. Giffords talks about during her up and coming TV interview.

His name is Mark Kelly (not Giffords); he's a former astronaut as well as being married to a former congresscritter.

Wendy P.
There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)

Restricting guns for people who shouldn't have them isn't restricting guns?

It is the very definition of gun control; controlling who gets guns.

OK on Mr. Kelly.
Yes any control on guns is gun control. I think most would agree guns need to stay out of the hands of mentally unstable people. i.e. please see U.S. Department of Justice ATF form 4473 FireArms Transaction Record question 11a.through k. which does basically nothing as it's self reporting and a mentally unstable person isn't going to say their mentally unstable when buying a firearm. If they do they've also committed a felony. The reason ATF needs to work with mental health information.

Sorry I didn't draw the distinction between banning guns and limiting access to unstable mentally ill as I attempted to show liberal reporting bias.

I think what has the nation upset is all the talk about banning guns. Including Bloomberg. It's also causing stock pilling which is not helping industry pricing.

Indeed, the WSJ is a well known liberal rag, and a very outspoken supporter of Obama. :S:S:S

It's owned by that arch-liberal Rupert Murdoch.:D

Agreed. It's how to implement that's the challenge.

>I think what has the nation upset is all the talk about banning guns.

Also agreed, and it's unfortunate that the gun lobby is propping the "they want to ban all guns!"strawman argument. It is making rational conversation difficult if not impossible.

You know, you're right. Jim Brady; Gabrielle Giffords... all these bastards who've been lobotomized by guns really need to STFU. At least RFK had the good sense not to bitch about gun control after he got plugged in the head.

Oh, and Macho Camacho.... he stayed macho right to the end.
