regulator 0 #1 January 8, 2013 Piers Morgan conducted one of his most entertaining interviews in a while on Monday night, although the term "interview" is perhaps a bit generous in describing the tirade from Alex Jones, the talk show host who started the petition to deport Morgan for advocating gun control. Jones, fresh off a confrontation with the TSA en route to his appearance, started off measured but quickly became unhinged without much input from Morgan, who got in only a couple words throughout the segment. The video is well worth your seven minutes, but if you don't have time, Real Clear Politics transcribed the best parts. When Jones really took off, around two minutes in, he started jabbing his finger at Morgan and yelling: "I'm here to tell you, 1776 will commence again, if you try to take our firearms! It doesn't matter how many lemmings you get out there in the street begging for them to have their guns taken. We will not relinquish them. Do you understand?" Later, when Morgan asked Jones if he knew how many gun homicides there were in Britain, Jones called him a "hatchet man of the new world order" and challenged him to a boxing match, in which "I'll wear red, white, and blue, and you'll wear your Jolly Roger." Morgan, regrettably, did not accept. In related news, the White House finally responded to Jones's petition, with a statement from spokesman Jay Carney: "The White House responds to all petitions that cross the threshold and we will respond to this one. In the meantime, it is worth remembering that the freedom of expression is a bedrock principle in our society." http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2013/01/rant-from-the-man-whod-deport-piers-morgan.html
regulator 0 #2 January 8, 2013 Damnit. Why can't we get some people who represent the rights of citizens wanting to defend the 2nd amendment that dont look like total nimwits. I agree that Piers Morgan is just as much of a fucking twat as perhaps the other guy with the stupid shit he says but I would rather have someone like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PAYi1XaNPg0
rhaig 0 #3 January 8, 2013 I know a couple of folks who went to high school with Alex here in the Austin area. Apparently he was always batshit crazy. It was an "entertaining" segment. Both the predictability of the script CNN handed piers to set Alex off and the reaction from Alex. It was so good I had to go look up the second half.-- Rob

LyraM45 0 #5 January 8, 2013 I don't know if I would call it entertaining. I couldn't even bare to watch it for more than 10 minutes. If the guy was slightly less batshit crazy and could at least let Morgan get a word in to keep the confrontation...errr... I mean conversation going, I might have been inclined to watch longer. Just after a few mins though, I wanted to start clubbing baby seals. I think Morgan can be pretentious sometimes, but in terms of who was the bigger twat last night, I think this Jones guy took the cake!Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)

I almost called it a debate, then edited to conversation, then decided "segment" was the best term for it.-- Rob

The marine in the vid is well spoken. He did say something profound: "laws that are unconstitutional are not laws." It would seem that any law enacted and enforced is a law, until Supreme Court decides otherwise, if they choose to hear the case. If they introduce manditory sentencing for possession of illegal firearms, then good luck breaking the law in an attempt to learn if any law you broke was unconstitutional. What gets me is that my constitutional rights are violated every time I travel on an airliner due to illegal search where the searcher has no probable cause. Try not obeying being searched, and you won't be getting to the gate.

While there is implied consent that comes with the purchase of the ticket, I would like it very much if the recently introduced TX HB 80 was passed (http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/BillLookup/Text.aspx?LegSess=83R&Bill=HB80) which basically requires that the TSA establish probable cause before a physical search. It would result in a change in TSA tactics. Changing tactics are good for security. It would likely result in a slight rise in the cost of air travel (perhaps only in TX) which I'm ok with.-- Rob

ianmdrennan 2 #13 January 8, 2013 Holy crap. Personally I find that guy, with or without a gun, terrifying. That's one seriously angry dude. Maybe they should actually take his gun away from him - seems unstable Ian Performance Designs Factory Team

That would be nice as going through just a couple weeks ago I was selected for random chemical swab test. The machine was broke so they took me to next booth where the chem maching was working, all while my wallet was hanging out in plain view in a plastic bucket back over there. Never thinking I'd be leaving baggage screening conveyer belt where all my stuff was in the plastic bins.

brenthutch 444 #23 January 9, 2013 At the other end of the spectrum, is a former Marine who was interviewed tonight. He was completely calm, had a mastery of his facts, and logically and dispassionately dismantled Piers.
Skyrad 0 #24 January 9, 2013 If anyone should have their guns taken away from them its Alex Jones, the man is totally unstable and no I'm not kidding. Thats the real problem you have, that people who are boarder line mental have access to firearms until they commit a crime. There are literally millions of firearms in the UK and yet 35 shootings in 2011, why? Because people as unstable as that are refused ownership. Its not about the guns its about the people using them.
