kelpdiver 2 #26 November 14, 2012 QuoteUnless the state one wants to purchase in has a mental health question on a purchase form....something I haven't yet seen....what would prevent her from buying a gun? Question 11f on the federal form 4473 does ask if the buyer has eve been adjudicated mentally defective or been committed to a mental institution. Past trusting the buyer to answer this question honestly, the states do maintain records on this at varying levels of quality. (In the case of the Virginia Tech shooting, the state's process failed) Much of the debate here, particularly for lawrocket, is how and what information would be stored for people seeking mental health care for issues of varying levels of severity and risk to others. normiss 906 #27 November 14, 2012 Ah yes...forgot that form....been a long time since I bought from a gun shop. Come to think of it, I've only ever bought one single weapon from a gun shop. Wow - that was years ago! I still suspect the fed having full access to our med records is where this is headed. It won't be pretty either. We already have a number of agencies with no appreciation or understanding of constitutional law anyway.

DaVinci 0 #34 November 27, 2012 I don't know enough about the disease to comment on this specific case. But, if the Dr's are fairly sure she will not relapse and they would call her 'healed', then I would see no issue. However, if they are not sure then she she should not be allowed.
