However, the current draft does not meet basic human rights standards, Human Rights Watch said on Monday. The key problem areas mentioned by the New York-based group are the lack of full bans on torture, the trafficking of women and children and discrimination on the grounds of sex. "Key Problems" That's laughable... The sharia, then sharia, and finally, the sharia. This nation will enjoy blessing and revival only through the Islamic sharia. I take an oath before Allah and before you all that regardless of the actual text (of the constitution) Allah willing, the text will truly reflect (the sharia) as will be agreed upon by the Egyptian people, by the Islamic scholars, and by legal and constitutional experts... rejoice and rest assured that this people will not accept a text that does not reflect the true meaning of the Islamic sharia as a text to be implemented and as a platform. The people will not agree to anything else. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=reLigeHGKzE
dmcoco84 5 #2 November 13, 2012 http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/11/07/egypt-constitution-idUSL5E8M7FP820121107 Drafts of the constitution drawn up by the assembly so far indicate it will have more Islamic references than the previous constitution, worrying more liberal-minded Egyptians and Christians, who make up about a tenth of the nation of 83 million. They fear the imposition of social restrictions. An important article stating that "the principles of sharia" are the main source of legislation has until now remained unchanged from the old constitution. But a new article seeks to spell out what those principles are in Islamic terms. And it will be exactly the same in Libya.
Skyrad 0 #3 November 13, 2012 An Islamist party won the democratic elections. They knew what they were voting for, its hardly a surprise so whats the problem? When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy.
