(CNN) -- Long Island residents who have been without power for 11 days expressed anger at elected officials at a rally Friday.

Where's the outrage from the left?

I think it disgraceful that the President of the USA isn't up a utility pole fixing a blown transformer.

I'm certain that in 2 months when he gives a speech "and then I repaired the damage from Sandy" he'll be heaped with praise and the peasants will rejoice

Of course - if this was two weeks ago you may counter with a comment about Mitt or Ryan pushing an electrical worker off a cherry picker to get a photo op. that would also make me chuckle

Thanks Andy, I really didn't need that. Silly assed demagoguery aside, you'd think the Feds might be a little better prepared for Katrina 2.0, considering he ran on doing it better than the predecessor.

Why do you think the FEDS haven't done better? They've pumped 460 million gallons of water out of the subways alone and the subways are all dry. The feds can't replace all the damaged electrical/mechanical stuff, that's up to the utility companies.

FEMA's failure after Katrina was still apparent a year later. My GF was a FEMA doctor in NOLA three months after Katrina and it was still a disaster area.

From what I've been able to tell, FEMA did a pretty good job in most of the disaster area this go-around. The exception to that is Staten Island, at least for the first few days, for which many, including (but not only) FEMA, deserve a bitch-slapping.

No, she was tending to the poor and sick, people that didn't exist in Bush's universe. Which is why she and other VOLUNTEERS were still needed 3 months AFTER the hurricane.:P:P:P:P

So FEMA fucked up NO, but your GF was employed by an arm of FEMA that wasn't part of the problem? Got it.

She wasn't employed by FEMA, she was a volunteer for FEMA.

You should stop criticizing people you don't know who help others who are in need. Oh, sorry, I forgot, helping the needy is not the Republican way.

What did YOU do to help out after Katrina?

Silly assed demagoguery aside, they were.

Death toll, Katrina: 1833
Death toll, Sandy: 120

Con Ed power restoration 11 days after Sandy: 80+%
Power restoration 9 days after Katrina: 75%

Number of storms to hit NOLA to cause this: 1
Number of storms to hit NY to cause this: 2
