regulator 0 #1 October 24, 2012 CNN) -- A Louisiana woman who said she had been set afire by white supremacists inflicted her injuries herself, police said Tuesday. Sharmeka Moffitt was found in a city park in Winnsboro, in rural northeastern Louisiana, on Sunday night with burns over 90% of her body. The 20-year-old told police she had been attacked and set ablaze by three men who wrote "KKK" on her car, but Winnsboro Police Chief Lester Thomas said Tuesday afternoon that evidence found on a cigarette lighter and a bottle of charcoal lighter fluid showed "this was not an attack, but a self-inflicted incident." Investigators released little else at a Tuesday afternoon news conference. "This has been a very disturbing case for everyone involved," Franklin Parish Sheriff Kevin Cobb said. Moffitt was in critical but stable condition at a Shreveport hospital Tuesday night, Franklin Parish Sheriff's Deputy Bettye McCoy said. http://www.cnn.com/2012/10/23/us/louisiana-fake-hate-crime/index.html?hpt=hp_t3

Southern_Man 0 #3 October 24, 2012 I agree that the woman is an idiot but I see nothing to link her to any political candidate or to believe that she was a likely voter."What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
Anvilbrother 0 #4 October 24, 2012 She did it herself. They found her fingerprints on the lighter and lighter fluid bottle. The origional claims by her were that she was wearing an Obama t-shirt and some Romney supporters did this to her. Postes r made from an iPad or iPhone. Reminds me of that Young Republican woman from (I think) Texas, canvasing for McCain in (IIRC) Pennsylvania. Claimed that she had been attacked by a black man because she was campaigning for McCain. Turned out to be a total fabrication. She got a tremendous amount of support, until it turned out she was just a liar. Their web blog was wide open for anyone to post, until they locked it down when the truth came out.
