Where would Iranian ships go from the Arabian Sea? Where would they go from the Mediterranean Sea following ground transportation across Syria?
Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.

Just like Obama on his campaign trail went to 57 states....

or when a video is mentioned 6 times during a UN speech
"America will never be destroyed from the outside,
if we falter and lose our freedoms,
it will be because we destroyed ourselves."

Yes, I liked this bit:

Mitt Romney repeated his contention that Syria is Iran’s route to the sea. This is a puzzling claim, considering that Syria shares no border with Iran — Iraq and Turkey are in the way — and that Iran has about 1,500 miles of coastline along the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman, leading to the Arabian Sea. The Fact Checker column has looked into this before.

Nice bit of attempted spin by his staffers. Lame, stupid, but nice.

Granted. But, he was trying to set a metaphor that he never finished... in highlighting the ties between the two countries, claimed that Syria “is also their route to the sea.” [meaning the sea of terrorism].

Unfinished metaphor - nonsense.
He's said the same thing 6 times since February. 8 months is plenty of time to finish it.

And yes, we all know he doesn't say what he really means. He says what he thinks his audience wants to hear.

The full quote reads: "Syria is Iran's only ally in the Arab world. It's their route to the sea. It's the route for them to arm Hezbollah in Lebanon, which threatens, of course, our ally, Israel. And so seeing Syria remove Assad is a very high priority for us."

It's a paragraph.

Earlier this year, the President referred to a Nazi facility used to process Jews for extermination as a “Polish death camp.” Even Poland's Prime Minister Donald Tusk said President Obama's words had hurt all Poles. Anyone who studied a modicum of WWII history knew that he meant that ~three million Jewish Poles were killed in death camps set up by the Nazi's in German-occupied Poland including [at that time] Auschwitz . So what he meant was, "Death camps in which Poles were killed."

Now, I don't share this to begin some, "he said, he said," debate. But to illustrate that when in the limelight, ANY public speaker is going to make a gaffe. If you knew what the intent was - as in my knowing what the President meant... seems kinda silly to pull some one thing out and dissect it to the ridiculous.

EDIT: Deleted double word
Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

Well, SHAZAM!

Assad is in THE SEA? Well, Shazam indeed.

I'm not sure what you mean by that. I have to assume he is referring to Syria's ports on the Mediterranean Sea. Even though Iran has its own coastline, its access to "the sea" is restricted by sanctions. Also, it is quite a long distance to keep a fleet operational in the Mediterranean and have access to home only by a 3 or 4 thousand mile trip through the Suez for refitting. Syria is Iran's ally. Iraq, while not "officially" a strategic ally of Iran, is (allegedly and either overtly or by looking the other way) allowing passage of "things" through Iraq into Syria and to "the sea" for whatever purpose ...probably items which are prohibited from being loaded onto ships at Iranian ports. We know Iranian-backed/supplied groups are active in Lebanon and waging war against Israel. Maybe even Iranian personnel. According to this, Iranian warships have sailed through the Suez into the Mediterranean and docked at Syrian ports only twice since the Islamic Revolution in 1979. I think that Romney was referring to the access by Iranian warships to Syrian ports and the ability to resupply by a direct land route from Iran to these ports on "the sea". Iran could then keep a permanent battle fleet in the Mediterranean with that direct link to Iran. BTW, I wonder how or if the sanctions are intended to affect the movement of Iranian warships? (I think this is one reason that Iraq was so strategically important for "us".)
