Ideology isn't that important this election. Working on the economy is.

Interpretation: you don't know what Mitt really believes either.

Well, you're in good company because no-one else does either.

Just finished watching last night's The Daily Show where Stewart had Obama on. I heard something about these two men saying how "it was less than optimal when American diplomats are killed". Less than optimal? Are you serious? The Consensus Mainstream Media goes "Ape Shit" when Romney says "Binders full of Women" and yet it is less than optimal that a few people died. Oh well ... no biggie. His pal Jon Stewart has got him covered.

Obama can't even go on The Daily Show without his teleprompter. When I am having a conversation with someone, I am looking at them in the eyes. When Stewart talks to Obama, both men are looking at each other in the eyes. But when Obama talks, he looks down at the desk. Oh and look, the desk's top is made of glass. The teleprompter puppet.

There was an interesting discussion today on the Diane Rehm show (radio) with several people talking about the security or lack thereof at the Benghazi consulate. Among the points made were:
  • Chris Stephens (ambassador) was very experienced in Libya, and personally liked to travel without undue pomp and circumstance ("under the radar" was the term used).
  • American embassies/consulates, and ambassadors, are so surrounded by security right now as to make them off-putting for many people in-country -- i.e. they don't accept or issue invitations because of the security rings they have to run through for us an no one else
  • Security at the Benghazi consulate was provided by a British company using locals, because the government didn't want a large American presence in Benghazi. We elected to have a consulate there anyway, even with this restriction
  • Yes, there had been a request to up security, even given the point above.
  • No, I'm sure Chris Stevens didn't want to die
  • There is information still coming in about what might or might not have triggered the demonstration, and who might have been involved. Latest intelligence includes the possibility that that stupid video really was involved

The upshot is that it's not a completely simple situation, and treating it as a simple black-and-white situation for political reasons does a huge disservice to the people in our diplomatic corps, whether they were appointed under Republican or Democratic presidents.

I know that my cousin who's in Egypt was told not to come in to work for a couple of days at the height of the demonstrations, but then went on in. It's her job, and frankly she thought it was appropriate.

There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)

  • I like the DR show but, she is one of the most Left Wing Liberals on the air. I listen to her to gather intel from the enemy.

On the other side is the BlazeTV. Points they have emphasized are:

    1. The consulate staff sent communications of concern for their safety that were not acted upon.

    2. The administration was so lax in their investigation that a CNN crew found Chris Stevens' diary.

    3. The FBI arrived late and only stayed a few hours. How much intel was lost?

    4. Was the real purpose of the ambassador and his staff? Were they trying to locate and recover the 23,000 unaccounted for high tech weapons supplied to the Muslim Brotherhood during the coup d'etat?
Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.

    Intel from the enemy?

Jesus, no wonder this country is in trouble.

Seriously folks life isn't black and white and I don't see how anyone could be boxed into a political ideology or want to be....

The reality is we need to work together and certainly not view each other as enemies.
