airdvr 210 #1 October 12, 2012 I'm fairly certain that Joe Biden would have made a better POTUS than Barack. He had a firm grip on the issues. I don't think I'm the only one who was put off by the constant Biden grin. I kept waiting for Ryan to ask Joe if he thought the problems we face are funny. I though Ryan did what he was supposed to do, and that was to not look like a dick. On several occasions he didn't take the bait offered by Biden, and even got one in about sometimes what we say doesn't come out right. Please don't dent the planet. ianmdrennan 2 #2 October 12, 2012 I thought Ryan carried himself really well. I was quite impressed. Biden had a really good grip on the issues too, I agree. I was surprised by him actually. He's much more in touch with what's going on than I previously gave him credit for. Personally, I far preferred the VP debate even though Biden was a little too smug for my liking at times. That said, I don't take his smugness as laughing at the issues, but rather at Ryan's approach or stance on them. I got the impression that both Ryan and Biden are very serious about the issues, just with very different approaches to solving them It was, for the most part, a much better discussion of the issues. rehmwa 2 #6 October 12, 2012 Lot's of substance in this debate. If you just listened and didn't watch Biden, it was pretty good and info was available from them both. If you watched, then Biden was really annoying and the circus show sometimes made it hard to realize he was giving decent info.. He only came really close to freaking out a couple times and only later. That's pretty good considering his track record. I really thought his 'passion' was just an act, like his top row of teeth. But apparently, he might really be that way. Only an idiot would spin up like that on purpose during a debate. But I guess some of the masses prefer to see energy rather than listen to the words. It's easier. But he did good on his words too. In all, both came across pretty decently on facts and putting forth their positions. Though Biden was kind of a dick the whole time. So the President, Romney, and Ryan at least act like adults. 3 for 4 isn't too bad. I don't care if either ones 'gets one in' - it's not about who's smarmiest, that's covered in these forums just fine. I just want the content, the cosmetic crap is pointless even if that's what 90% of the public seem to care about. ... Ian Two things.... first, Biden hurt himself overall with the laughing. I think the left said "ya, see we can punch too." The right thought it was over the top and the middle or undecided's either thought it was funny (not good) or unbecoming of a VP (worse). second..... and a HUGE problem. Biden contradicted testimony from earlier in the day about the Benghazi attack. If you know what is going on he just lied about it.... many news outlets ABC, NBC, etc. are talking about this. I think that is going to build and make the ticket look worse than it already does as a result of their floundering and position changes. They handled it badly and are still making it worse. I would call the debate a draw with a possibility of Biden turning off undecideds and independents. The Benghazi situation is a big deal though.Life is all about ass....either you're kicking it, kissing it, working it off, or trying to get a piece of it. Nixon was a clear winner of the radio but on TV lost big. TV is a lot bigger now... just an fyi in case you didn't know. Non verbals or laughing mean something..... not sure which way this will go but my guess is that all of Biden's great content went down the crapper with how he acted. Not in the eyes of Dem's of course but in the eyes of those who matter.... undecideds.Life is all about ass....either you're kicking it, kissing it, working it off, or trying to get a piece of it. RonD1120 62 #14 October 12, 2012 I think Biden did what he was told to do, attack Ryan. I believe Ryan had a good command of the issues and the direction for dealing with them as part of the team. My wife and I were put off by Biden's style of arrogant rudeness. She gave up after an hour and then I fell asleep on the couch. From a Transactional Analysis standpoint, Biden approached Ryan as Parent to Child. All the while Ryan was trying to communicate Adult to Adult. BHO's team is being exposed for what they are. America is demanding better.Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them. rehmwa 2 #15 October 12, 2012 I think Biden was trying to do to Ryan what Romney did to Obama. He just didn't know how to do it like the statesman he's supposed to be. I think it hurt him with those that have a shallower analysis, since his content was fine. It's tough when you're always told what you want to hear all the time - it makes you arrogant - that reflected in Biden's attitude and Obama's inability to grasp that there really is other, legitimate, viewpoints than his own. ... I wanted to hear what Biden had to say. It is sad because he did get in a lot of content and represented where he and Obama stand but his delivery hurt him. I think it sucks for him because I believe Biden is a good man. Many on both sides have always said that about him but he was forced in to a role that did not fit him because Obama lost so badly. I blame the Obama team. They pushed him to be that way.Life is all about ass....either you're kicking it, kissing it, working it off, or trying to get a piece of it.
