airdvr 210 #1 October 8, 2012 Obama to honor iconic Latino activist with new monument http://www.cnn.com/2012/10/08/us/obama-chavez-monument/index.html?hpt=hp_t2 I thought the timing of this was a little too convenient but then I read more...(emphasis mine) QuoteThe monument includes 120 acres, National Park Service spokesman David Barna said. It will encompass property that includes a visitor's center, the United Farm Workers' legal aid offices, Chavez's home with his wife, Helen, a memorial garden containing his grave, and other buildings, the White House said. I'm wondering if that is a misprint or do we now have union offices on federal land. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
lawrocket 3 #2 October 8, 2012 Legal Services Corporation. Congress founded the Legal Services Corporation to assist the poor by providing certain legal services that they cannot afford to pay an attorney to receive. It was originally envisioned as assisting with wills, custody arrangements, assistance with filing claims, etc. Of course, it grew to more than that, with LSCs hooking up with plaintiffs’ attorneys and unions to provide their assistance in certain other cases regarding wages, etc. In addition, the LSC was engaged in lobbying, doing criminal defense work, etc. Lots of stuff that would otherwise be viewed as, well, activities with a political bent. That changed in 95 or 96. Or was supposed to change. I’ve had some run-ins with them. The LSC is one of those things where you ask yourself, “Use taxpayer money to fund a law firm with the purpose of providing assistance to the poor. What could go wrong?” The history of corruption is ongoing. A prime example is something like hooking up with unions. They always have – unions get their guns free of charge. And the LSC gets unions to support politicians who fund them. It’s just out in the open now. Take a look at this: http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/42/2996e Trust me - they find ways around prohibitions. My wife is hotter than your wife.
