But whether you are a democrat or a republican, you have to admit that the U.S is like a child with deep self-esteem issues.

Someone who constantly overthinks.
... who constantly criticizes himself over worthless details.
... who blames others for their problems, but deep inside knows they are the one to be blamed.
... who doubts everything and unwilling to take any actions
... and because he doubts everything, is unwilling to dream any real ambition

A person with an overinflated ego always views those with introspection as having self-esteem issues. Example:

Meanwhile, that person may just be trying to improve himself related to a small thing that is important to him. Something as insignificant as the difference between an hour with my son and 65 minutes may be insignificant to others. But not to me.

This is true. But is not a low self-esteem issue but an inflated ego thing. "It's not my fault. It's those idiots" is the opposite, ain't it?

This is not a self-esteem issue, either. This is an ego issue. Doing the right thing often loses votes. The purpose is not the "right thing" but supporting their own narcissism in the political spectrum.

For general public, yes. There are plenty who are unwilling to fail. Those are the self-esteem issues, and I'll agree with that. But still with others, to take action also requires risk. Many times it saves them.

Why does this person doubt? Listen to the rhetoric telling people they can't get ahead. Society has failed these people because they allowed society to take them on as responsible parties. It's when they doubt what is told of him, when he questions and challenges those who tell him or her he can't, that he or she has ambition.

There are too many dreams and not enough ambition. I've never woken up from a dream and concluded that it made sense. But goals? Yes. They can be set and achieved.
