According to a recent Forbes article, Beck has 300,000 subscribers. A recent article in the NY Daily News said the average viewership for CNN was 446,000 during prime time. I think maybe Mr. Beck exaggerated his claim a little. - Dan G

Who is gaining more and who is losing? I've never watch one show of Beck.. so I don't give a shit but if Beck has only had this show for a year .....Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little

Saying that you think Glenn Beck is trying to be unifying is defending him. Saying that you're not defending what he says, and that he's actually not unifying means that you have an opinion of Glenn Beck that is independant of the stuff he actually says. rehmwa 2 #60 September 17, 2012 Quote Yep, good point......BTW how long has Beck be around and how long has CNN? Who is gaining more and who is losing?. see, now that's an entirely different metric than the original claim of just net numbers perhaps if you charted the rate at which Beck's membership has grown over the last 5? 10? years and fit and asymptotic estimate to the limit indicated on the chart (simple math fits can be found on the internet, or "intrawebs" as it is called). Then compared that limit to the constant CNN number - one could estimate the date at which the original claim is true. or fit asymtotes to both trends and see if they ever cross I'd also suggest aligning that with key dates from the Aztec calendar - just a hunch...... seems any nerd patrol member would be happy to do that also ... DanG 1 #61 September 17, 2012 Beck's been around for many years. He had his own show on Fox for a number of years. His BlazeTV internet show has only been around for one year. CNN is certainly losing TV viewers, but to compare to Beck's internet site, you should add all the CNN TV viewers to the unique hits to their site. I'd be willing to bet CNN has the edge. - Dan G

I think maybe Mr. Beck exaggerated his claim a little. The Forbes article does not cite a source for the 300,000 figure. Therefore, no way to tell how currently accurate it is. A jump of 146,000 subscribers could occur rather quickly. Folks are catching on to the reality of his predictions for the Middle East. He has been right on target since his FOX network days, over one year ago. Tonight he is analyzing the WH cover up of the Libyan assassination. CIA not State Department personnel; SEALS not Marines; safe house not an American Embassy. One of the SEALS sent a coded message for extraction prior to the release of the questionable youtube video. One >of the SEALS sent a coded message for extraction prior to the release of the >questionable youtube video. Glenn Beck loves himself a good conspiracy. Some others: - The US government will seize everyone's land and then invite the Chinese army into the US to put down any protest. - Obama will arm the mailmen and authorize them to secretly spy on Americans. - A Wisconsin college professor that Beck calls "the Wizard" controls Obama and will use him to make Al Gore rich through cap and trade, via a group called "Emerald Cities Collaborative." - The Marxists and the Arabs will take over the world in a "Muslim caliphate." The secret players here include Barack Obama, George Soros, Google, and children named Mohammed.

kallend 2,150 #67 September 18, 2012 QuoteQuoteJohn, do not expect anyone outside of academia to understand the byzantine title structure within it. You can explain it until you're blue in the face, but unless they are actively involved, they will think a person is either a professor or student, they can't wrap their heads around anything else. This would hold especially true to those who never had contact with either. There's no shortage of professors who get indignant if a non tenured associate is called "professor." It feels a bit far fetched that a non tenure tract lecturer would be promoted to a position (senior lecturer) purported to have equal stature in but 4 years. It's true that outsiders tend to squash the title structure down to professor, lecturer, staff, but UofC would have us believe the same, it appears. My school has academic ranks along the usual lines, but all teachers get called "professor" informally. My wife held Senior Lecturer rank but was always called "professor" and was part of the full time faculty. I have no reason to suppose U of C is any different. If they say they offered him a tenure track position I have no reason to doubt that. U of C Law is the 5th ranked in the USA. I find it hard to believe they would repeatedly hire an incompetent to teach their classes, year after year.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.
