Electric prices are going to rise per Obama's wishes

Damm you Evil President! http://news.yahoo.com/gasoline-prices-predicted-fall-2013-193421544--finance.html

Wait what?

This is happening inspite of what he is doing

Have you seen to boon in Texas and the Dakotas?

Funny what supply will do to prices

So in reverse

Remove effient coal plants because they will not meet stupid EPA polution rules
Keep laws in place where new ones can not be built

(remember, Obama said you can built a coal plant if you want to but you will be taxed out of business)

and you get quickly rising electric prices

Ask those who live in CA

if we falter and lose our freedoms,
it will be because we destroyed ourselves."

No, remove dirty coal plants because they will not meet EPA pollution rules.

For decades the coal industry has been getting special treatment, and has managed to violate EPA pollution limits with no penalty. That era is coming to an end, and in the future all power plants will have to meet the same requirements with no favorites, no exceptions, no excuses.

Good!

Nice video. I wish I had more time to search for the whole statement. I think it is telling that the video stops at the last word of the inflammatory part, when his cadence clearly indicates that the sentence is not finished.

And yes, I largely believe the "global warming lie" assumng by that phrase you mean that the Earth's climate is rapidly changing and man's actions are a significant contributor.

From the article:

Quote

Forecasters say ample oil supplies and weak U.S. demand will keep a lid on prices. The lows will be lower and the highs won't be so high compared with a year ago. The average price of a gallon of gasoline will fall 5 percent to $3.44, according to the Energy Department…That would still be the third-highest average price ever.

So by keeping a lid on the economy, it helps with gasoline prices.

It also show that worldwide demand is there to keep the prices up, as well. As much as people want to believe it, a President has only a marginal effect on the price of gasoline. It’s a big world buying this stuff.

My wife is hotter than your wife.

Why do you think Obama wants electricity prices to rise? Please don't just say "power" or "control", as that makes no sense.

He has stated he wants to shut down coal plants and won't approve building more nuclear. What do you think is going to happen to electric prices as demand increases and supplies decrease?

Some bad news for the antis . . .

==============
Chevy Volt tops most-loved car survey again

Chuck Burton / AP

General Motors' Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid car topped Consumer Reports' annual owner-satisfaction survey for the second straight year.

Ninety-two percent of Volt owners surveyed by the influential consumer magazine said they would definitely buy the Volt again, earning the electric car the top ranking. Last year, 93 percent of respondents said they would buy the car again.

"The Volt's two-year reign at the top of our satisfaction survey points to the continuing trend of owners' enthusiasm for cars that are fuel-efficient, especially as we see more and more hybrid and electric models hitting the market," Consumer Reports' auto editor, Rik Paul, said in a statement.

. . .

Consumer Reports said its survey received responses from owners of almost 350,000 vehicles spanning the 2010-2013 model years.

And yet more bad news!

===============
Worldwide Electric Vehicle Sales to Reach 3.8 Million Annually by 2020
Tech 1/3/2013
Forbes

Since the launch of the Nissan Leaf and Chevrolet Volt, in late 2010, plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) have become more widely available. Hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), which first appeared a decade earlier, are now selling steadily. According to a new report from Pike Research, annual worldwide sales of these vehicles, collectively referred to as electric vehicles (EVs), will reach 3.8 million by 2020.

. . .

Dave Hurst, senior research analyst with Pike Research, explains that overall sales of EVs have not lived up to automakers’ expectations nor politicians’ proclamations. But the market is expanding steadily as fuel prices remain high and consumers increasingly seek alternatives to internal combustion engines

“Indeed, sales of plug-in EVs will grow at a compound annual growth rate of nearly 40 percent over the remainder of the decade, while the overall auto market will expand by only two percent a year.” — Dave Hurst

While hybrid vehicles have been widely available for more than a dozen years, the market for plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) has grown rapidly in the last 2 years, reaching more than 120,000 unit sales worldwide in 2012. Earlier this year, Oregon and Washington states announced the West Coast Electric Highway.

Sorry about the bad news on a Friday.

I understand Edsel and Yugoslav drivers gave their cars very high ratings also.

Seriously, did you expect them to say something different after they just plunked down all that money?

Ah, I like the clever spin! Let's see:

So school shootings will increase as well per the NRA's wishes.
So spending will increase as well per the republican's wishes.
So more people will die of lung cancer per RushMC's wishes.

ONLY if the EPA keeps doing it illegal human testing

Sorry, to be clear I don't really think your wishes include people dying of lung cancer. Just pointing out the hyperbole in GM's justification.

Thanks but I got it

It has taken me some years to figure out some of your subtleties but, this one I got

The mechanism by which "prices would necessarily skyrocket" is a carbon tax. It is the carbon tax that is so irresistible to progressives. And yes it is about control. Progressives think that if they can control human behavior the world will be a better place. Alcohol tax, tobacco tax, soft drink regulation, strip bar tax etc., are all ways to control human behavior. A carbon tax would be the holy grail of taxes because every single human uses energy. Progressives would manipulate energy prices to influence behavior, and the revenue generated would fund the mega-government progressives have been pining for since the turn of the last century. That is one of the reasons the whole global warming thing has been slow to die. It checks too many progressive boxes to go quietly.

What gets me is that people think other people control pricing. The people that control pricing are: THE SHEEPLE. Since the production of gasoline is basically free to the oil producer, don't you think for a New York milisecond that if ALL DRIVERS told the gas companys they were going to stop driving until gas got to 1.79. per gallon the gas firms would lower prices? Why is gas RIGHT NOW $.79 cents in Puerto Rico and $6.79 per gallon on Grand Cayman. Reason: peeople will pay those prices. Oil companies price the fuel for what the population will spend. If all Americans would spend $20 per gallon, gas would be that price. Believe me, shut down the whole car transportation system for one week demanding lower prices and gas prices would plument.

If consumers were organized, which they could do through the internet etc., they could get a lot done themselves. But they are simply not willing to organize. Major corporations know this and take advantage.

Well, actually the range (according to numbeo) is 87 cents to a dollar. Per liter, which equals roughly 3.50-3.75 a gallon.

I looked it up originally because I was just in Puerto Rico in November, and I sure didn't pay any 79 cents a liter, never mind gallon.

There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)

Must have gone up since when I was in PR in July. I paid $6.78 CI when I was in Caymen over Christmas add 20% to CI to get the USD equivalent. None the less, gas prices are fixed to what any economy will pay.
