normiss 906 #2 August 28, 2012 This isn't a party issue. According to statistics in the 1988 book, "I Never Called It Rape," by Robin Warshaw, 84% of college men who committed rape claimed that what they had done was not, in fact, rape. One in 15 male students reported that they raped someone or attempted to do so in the preceding year. And "nearly one third of college men said they were likely to have sex with an unwilling partner if they thought they could get away with it." A more recent study published in the Journal of Social and Clinical Psychology in 1998 asked students to what extent it was acceptable for a man to verbally pressure or force a date to have sexual intercourse. The responses show that 17% of men considered that using force was an acceptable strategy to get their way.
billvon 3,132 #3 August 28, 2012 >Doesn't even know how rape differs from regular teenage sex. I think he knows and would have given a better answer if he'd had time to think about it. If anything, it just shows that many politicians who have very strong views on abortion have simply never thought the issue through; they just adopted what their priest/minister/party said without ever questioning dogma. (And when they do think about it - well, this is an example of what happens, at least at first.)
rushmc 23 #4 August 28, 2012 I think the moron label is the more interesting point of this thread Cause if one really thinks about it, morons in the Republican party are easier to spot. I mean, there are so few the ones that are there stand out On the other hand, the Democratic party endorses and embraces them within their own ranks so they are much much harder to pick out of a like crowd Of course, Biden floats to the top regularly "America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." Abraham Lincoln
jgoose71 0 #5 August 28, 2012 So your saying that picking a moron out of the Democratic party is like picking a moron out of a sea of morons? On a separate issue, who really considers Joe Biden Smart? lawrocket 3 #7 August 28, 2012 QuoteOn a separate issue, who really considers Joe Biden Smart? I do. Like it or not, one cannot attain what Joe Biden has accomplished and NOT be smart. He speaks his mind, and it's one of the things that I find refreshing about him - he doesn't have every word teleprompted. Joe Biden is a person who is very underestimated. While I disagree with him on a host of things, I do not question his intellect. My wife is hotter than your wife.

lawrocket 3 #19 August 29, 2012 Charisma and ego are big factors. But absence of brains is a death knell. I cannot help but think that the persistent reference to Republicans as idiots has hurt the Democrats. Dubya was supposed to be a moron, and he more than held his own against Gore during debates. Gore was a genius and Bush was a moron. Gore failed to meet expectations and Bush exceeded them. So Bush came out ahead. I've been hearing talk of how Ryan is going to kickBiden's ass in debate. I'm shaking my head. Each side has the same fucked up tactics and techniques. The difference is who is hated. My wife is hotter than your wife.

Right, "MORAN" is the preferred Tea Party usage. The first time I was eligible to vote I voted for Barry Goldwater. I have been conservative most all my adult life. The exception was the period of time I was using alcohol and drugs. I was a liberal then but fortunately I did not vote. I know I voted for Nixon but did not vote in 1976. I was homeless and not registered. I believe this election in November will be the most important one of my lifetime. Rest assured, you incessant reference to that one photo will be a primary issue of importance to me when I cast my vote.Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit.
