matthewcline 0 #34 August 3, 2012 In this case, I believe, it is vandalism. I think one could try and argue a Gov Owned Building being Vandalized is protected by free speech, but, I think it it would still be vandalism. MattAn Instructors first concern is student safety. quade 4 #35 August 3, 2012 Yeah, I think it's an interesting question about where the line is. I specifically used the word wall rather than building because I'm fairly certain you'd get dinged for any mark you make on some government buildings, but I think there's a big grey area when it comes to others, IF the person is making a political statement as opposed to simply marking it. So let's say across the street from this restaurant was a public wall separating the neighborhood from a freeway... I dunno.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
matthewcline 0 #36 August 3, 2012 Maybe we legalize it with a permit and they can protest on walls? Buy a permit write your protest out, it can stay for a set period of time, and then a new permit holder can protest over it! MattAn Instructors first concern is student safety. quade 4 #39 August 4, 2012 Chick-Fil-A had a crew repainting it this morning before noon. I don't think it was Banksy himself, but it also wasn't just the average tagger either. jgoose71 0 #46 August 5, 2012 Quote ....... but in either case, his last line is correct. Are you talking about this last line? Quote At the end of the day, said Castro, "It's paint on a wall. It got removed in less than an hour. It's not that much of a crime -- it's a protest." In case you missed it, this was Streetscooby's problem earlier. The liberal tolerance to damaging property. It's not OK, no matter how you spin it. Keying your car can be easily fixed in a day, I guess it's not much of a crime-- it's a protest. Have fun with the rest of the OWS protesters smashing in Obama's campaign office in Oakland. Windows can be replaced in a day also. it's not much of a crime -- It's a protest. And the list of "Protests" go on and on and on......"There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." jgoose71 0 #48 August 5, 2012 QuoteOn the grand scale of things, I'll take a little damage you can literally white-wash over to denying people's rights any day. Ends justify the means.... Got it. So who draws the line at how much damage is acceptable? Do the liberals get to inflict more damage than the conservatives? Are you going to come up with a formula that says "so much injustice allows for so much damage to a persons property?" How far down this road to you want to go? Is it OK to blow up a building as long as no one is in it Bill Ayres?"There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. jgoose71 0 #50 August 6, 2012 It's called a slippery slope. When you start walking down that path, where do you draw the line? Some on the path (cough, OWS, cough, hack...) are content to walk all the way down it....."There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying.
