Skyrad 0 #1 July 30, 2012 Quote Shortly before the 2008 election, 56 percent of Americans surveyed by the Gallup organization said that race relations would improve if Obama were elected. One day after his victory, 70 percent said race relations would improve and only 10 percent predicted they would get worse. http://news.yahoo.com/obama-era-race-relations-improved-122353820.html So what is your take on it? I'm curious how Americans perceive race relations in the US. It would be interesting if you are willing to share your ethnicity, along with your comments (don't if you're not happy to) I suspect that may make a difference to your view which is why I added the white non white to the poll. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. RonD1120 62 #2 July 30, 2012 I see no change. The problems are only exacerbated by the blacks whose financial income depends on the existence of those problems e.g., Rev's Jackson, Sharpton, Wright, etc.Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.
Skyrad 0 #3 July 30, 2012 It seems that you're opinion is in the minority, the overwhelming majority of people think that racism has got worse. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. jclalor 12 #5 July 30, 2012 It's exasperated the racism in the already racist, it's helped with the younger generation. Just as negative opinion about Gay's has seen a dramatic decline in recent years with the younger generation, so has racism seen a big decline with the young. For some of the older bigots, Obama becoming president has been their worse nightmare come true.
Shotgun 1 #6 July 30, 2012 Quote. . . the overwhelming majority of people think that racism has got worse. Where are you getting this? The article you linked shows a majority of people thinking race relations are about the same, and a minority of people thinking race relations have gotten worse. masterrig 1 #7 July 30, 2012 From all the tweetin' goin' on among the Europeans at the Olympics, looks like racism is alive and well over there, too. Chuck
rehmwa 2 #8 July 30, 2012 QuoteFor some of the older bigots, Obama becoming president has been their worse nightmare come true. or their best dream....depending on the nature and direction of their bigotry Actually, I believe the current presidency itself is a minor issue in the long run on the issue. The younger generations seem to be moving (in general) in the right direction despite individual events, etc etc. Individual results vary, as they always do. If I were to make any comment, I think the point that this question is even asked and the way the responses are worded, highlights that there is still a problem since it's definitely not color blind in intent or execution. ... kelpdiver 2 #9 July 30, 2012 too many choices - and/or not enough answers. Another than a black president not leading to god swallowing up America in anger, I don't see that much has changed from the long running trajectory.
