WAYNESBORO, Ga. (AP) -- An 11-year-old boy has pleaded guilty to felony murder and gun possession in the fatal shooting of his father's girlfriend.

The boy was 10 when he was charged in the shooting death of Jennifer Albright. He received the maximum sentence from Juvenile Court Judge Willie Saunders of being held in custody until he turns 21.

The Associated Press is not naming the boy because he was not charged as an adult.

Albright was watching the boy, his younger cousin and her 2-year-old daughter on Dec. 30. Prosecutors say the boy shot Albright in the back with a 12-gauge shotgun as she was changing her daughter.

The Augusta Chronicle reports the boy is the second person of his age to be charged in connection with a murder in Georgia.

So, what are you proposing should happen to him? What is the alternative?

I'm not proposing anything. Just wanted to see where this would go. I don't want him living next door to me when he gets out.

I'm curious about the rest of the story. Why did the boy do this? Was the girlfriend abusing him? Did he just want his father all to himself? Was his mother jealous and placing ideas in his head? What was going on?

I think it would make a big difference in my opinion of how salvageable the boy is. Seems the judge didn't think much could be done with him. Most states don't allow you to consider charging a minor as an adult until 14. I'm guessing the court wanted to charge this kid as an adult. But just guessing.
I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet..

But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

There is no way a child of 11 should have uncontrolled access to a firearm. I wonder who the other person charged was?
When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy.

Nobody finds anything wrong with a 10 year old having access to a gun ?

We need more guns, the fathers girlfriend could have defended herself if she had had a concealed carry permit...

I had access to firearms from the age of 10. But, I had responsible training by my father and grandfather since age 7.
