LyraM45 0 #253 August 14, 2012 Quote Quote Quote Quote >Sounds like the LBGT attempts to impose their values on American free speech by >economic strangulation backfired. And from the small turnout it looks like the anti-gay faction's attempts to impose their will on the American people by eating junk food is working about as well . . . . Small turn-out?? Are you freakin kidding? I went by CfA while running some errands this evening and the parking lot was overflowing into Starbucks and McD's. The drive thru had at least a dozen cars in line. People were standing around the parking lot socializing. I was thinking about stopping and picking up something to go for dinner but didn't want to sit in line. They set records at nearly every store Small turn out Interesting that up until a few months ago, Obama had the exact same view on gay marriage that Dan Cathy has. It wasn't a problem during the last election and hasn't been a problem up until now. I wonder why the lefties weren't screaming that Obama hated gays during the last election? (as if I didn't know ) Because for most people who are upset with this whole thing, they are not upset with a view on support for traditional marriage. What they are upset about is the millions donated to groups that aren't just anti-gay marriage groups, but they are considered anti-gay anything groups-- and in some states are even listed as hate groups. When Obama starts donating millions to groups like that, THEN I will have a problem with him also!Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... Gravitymaster 0 #256 August 14, 2012 You do know that most Blacks who are Christians are also against gay marriage, don't you? Obama attended a Black Church for 20 years and presumably made donations to that church which likely had an anti-gay bias due it's support of traditional marriage. Of course the timing would suggest the real reason Obama changed his stance likely has more to do with creating a wedge issue that could be used against Mitt Romney. Marinus 0 #257 August 14, 2012 I should have put the word intriguing between quotation marks, because the pic is indeed about as intriguing as your question about gay-murdering OPEC countries. I thought you were able to figure out the sarcasm, but I was wrong. So the picture isn't intriguing, but it is funny. It's also offensive, but humour that isn't offensive in one way or another is usually boring. -If it doesn't hurt, it isn't funny-
Shotgun 1 #258 August 14, 2012 Why do you keep bringing up Obama in here? Did I miss where Dan Cathy put in a bid to run for POTUS? Or is Obama planning to start a fried chicken chain? If gay rights is an important issue to me, can you suggest the best Presidential candidate (who actually has a chance of winning)? Would it be Mitt Romney? You are absolutely correct, if someone is not put in a lesser place the joke is probably not funny. I even forgot about my own OPEC comment. Geez, I'm getting old. Since this entire issue came up after Obama made his announcement that he now suppoerts gay marriage, it's fair to assume that there was a political motivation as I noted in my last post. To ignore that is to blind ones self to the actual reason this is suddenly an issue ie. Presidential politics. I believe, and sincerely hope, Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan are elected. I do not agree with everything they stand for including the rights of gays to form legal unions with all the benefits of hetro-couples. If they want to get married in a church with a pastor who is willing to perform the ceremoney, that's fine with me. I would not vote for or against anyone for President based on a single issue. What "entire issue"? The anti-Chick-fil-A thing? That's been going on for years. And if Obama's recent announcement brought gay marriage/gay rights into the spotlight, I don't really care if it was a political move. Despite whatever his past says, I see it as a step in the right direction. And it's a step that the GOP will likely eventually take, but for now they are behind in that area. I don't vote on a single issue either. But this is a big issue to me, and one I will certainly consider among many others.

Even FOX News, long a traditional supporter of anything GOP, is saying that the GOP is behind the times. As younger Republicans start to become more active and older Republicans stop voting this will change pretty rapidly.

Most churches have an anti-gay bias as in they are against gay marriage, ect. I am OK with that. That is much different than a group who's actions are considered hurtful enough to be labeled a hate group. If this church was that far deep into it, like they held camps where they prayed or beat the gay out of kids, or lobbied to have gays called perverted pedophile or criminal, then again, I would have a problem with it. I am going to assume his church group was as benign as most church groups are and definitely do not go to the extent like AFTA, Exodus group, FRC, etc.Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... You mean sorta like when Romney changed his view from right to choose to anti abortion. Or do you mean when he changed from pro government mandated healthcare to anti? He gets elected, he will go back to where he was as Governor.
