Obama's Bizaro World

Recommended Posts

Several months ago there was a candidate making big waves for saying that businesses use roads and utilities and therefore must pay forward their opportunities by paying more in taxes because they have a responsibility to people.

Of coursean these businesses hire people. I consider that to be doing some wondrous things for the country.

The President's remarks are those that one would expect from someone who never had a payroll. It's also the sort of remark that is interesting considering the large amount of credit he takes for a large bnumber of things.

But it is clear - no business succeeds without customers. No business succeeds unless there is an infrastructure. But saying that no business results from the act of any one person? That's hogwash. Milton Friedman himself famously said that no one person can make a pencil. The businessman, however, is the one who puts together the pieces. The resources. He is the connection between the cedar grower/miller and the graphite miner/propcessor. He puts all the pieces together and it doesn't happen without him or her and happens BECAUSE of him or her.

It's comments like this that are proving what an utter disappointment the President is. No change. Bye bye hope.

I dunno, I never heard his father's advice.

The whole tit vs. tat game just leaves me confused anyway.

Romney Sr. said politicians should release more than one year of tax records, because it was too easy to hide shenanigans if they only released one.

Hmmm.

Good post

The debate about this can become circular very quickly (chicken, egg)

But, in the end it is disgusting that he thinks his government is the only way to success

That would be disgusting. Of course he's never said anything like that.

You're not against Obama, you're against the strawman Obama that Limbaugh, Huckabee, Hannity, and others have created in your mind.

Nope, there are lots of people on this site that think for themselves and disagree with me. Of course, they tend to back up their opinions with cogent arguments and facts.

Your insistance that Obama has said that no one can succeed without his government shows that you are not one of those people.

And for God's sake, fix the period key on your keyboard.

Even more curious to me is "why the hell did he say that?" It is a divisive statement - clearly divisive. And President is no dummy - he knows it to be divisive. He knows it is an attack on business, employers, etc. And will be viewed as such.

Reagan united people. So did Clinton (check out what the President did to true bipartisan welfare refor. Unconstitutional? So what?) Both were able to make deals and obtain broad bipartisan support

Why is the Preesident so goddamned hell-bent on dividing? Why is the President out there letting everybody know that there are those people that he'll favor and others that he'll attack? What is the deal with it?

Why is he out there dividing? He's more "Enemies List" Nixon.

>If his banking has nothing to do with anything, why are so many hung up on
>seeing Romney's tax returns?

I think because he has claimed something that goes counter to his own statements made to federal authorities. The tax returns might clear that up.

It's only a divisive statement (the actual one, not the misquote) if taken out of context and you're actually looking to be offended.

The words as he actually said them are not only true, but show we're really all in this together . . . Unless, of course, you choose to see that differently because you think you're some kind of special snow flake.

For me, he doesn't need their help. He's stepping on his dick all by himself.

BTW, this could turn enough undecideds to cost him the election. I feel a tingle down my leg :D

the two most noted examples of freeway buildout are the Autobahn by Hitler and the US Interstate system by Eisenhower. Both had military needs driving the project specs. In the case of the interstates, there are 1 mile long straightaways at proscribed intervals to give additional runway capacity anywhere in the country.

The only people tingling over "this" are people like you who would be against a cure for cancer if Obama were in favor of it.

The businesses also benefit more than many member of society from having access to a labor supply educated at the public's expense.
