What else is he hiding?

I just glanced at it. He made just less than $21M. He gave a little over $4M to charity.

It is certainly a travesty that organizations like the Mormon church can be considered tax deductible charities.

Has he broken some law we should be aware of or is this just more envy?

I'm assuming it's a lot like when John Kerry would berth his yacht in another state to avoid huge tax bills

And was rightly criticized for it.

Is Kerry running this year? Did he win in 2004?

The difference is that Kerry was calling for higher taxes on the wealthy, while at the same time doing everything he could to avoid taxes.

You better check your numbers again, or change tax preparers. That is ridiculously high.

That percentage includes FICA/medicare (and is only the employee side in my case but both in Romney's). And by "my" taxes and income, I'm including that of my wife. Nearly $12k was AMT, and another $14.5k was marriage penalty. Including state and local taxes, more than 40% of our AGI.

"hypocrisy" arguments are pointless - both are avoiding taxes using legal means. Even though it's legal, it's a loop hole and they should be rightly criticized.

It's more a comment about who's whining - the dems sure didn't critize Kerry at that time. And the Reps aren't criticizing Romney like they should either. Even your response here (IMO - you could have simply written the first line) is clearly a desire to deflect the FAIR comparison of party dynamics because you want to pretend only one side does it.

Sorry, I disagree. Criticism for obeying the law are non-productive.

He LIED to the SEC[/url]. I think that would qualify as breaking some law. We'll know more about this, of course, when he shows us the tax returns. ;)

The SEC filings listed in the Globe article were first flagged in a letter the Obama campaign sent to Factcheck.org, which nevertheless concluded that Romney never returned to active management in the company after 1999, instead shifting his focus to the 2002 Winter Olympics. But in separate SEC filings from 2000 and 2001, Romney listed his "principal occupation" as "Managing Director of Bain Capital, Inc.," and a 2003 state financial disclosure form said he owned 100 percent of the firm in 2002.

Of course this will not slow the extreme left down as they have developed a Tourettes like response to all questions about Obama.

Q:Unemployment rate
A: "Bain Capital"

Q: The Economy
A: "He's a rich white guy"

Q: The Deficit
A: "He shipped Jobs to China"

Q:Fast and Furious

Seriously, is this the best you Left-wingers can do?

nonsense - Romney is a Chicago style politician that wants to raise taxes, give special subsidies to big business (like the banks, the auto industry, and new green companies). He'll create huge and costly programs to those companies, and then provide executive exemptions for only his buddies. He'll give big subsidies to special technology fronts that produce nothing - maybe under the disguise of solar power or something. In the end, he'll create a huge administrative nightmare cloaking the biggest money grab in the history of the nation - perhaps in power or health care.

This and more - that damn Robomney.

Nope, it's just something uninformed Left-wingers want to use to refute that he "shipped jobs overseas" after 1999. He never claimed he didn't own Bain Capital. Just that he was not involved in corporate decisions during the time he was working hard to make the Olympics sucessful.

Republicans have a much simpler response:

"but .......... Solyndra!":D

Anyway, all you've managed to do is spew out a bunch of nonsense that has nothing to do with the point. Which is that he lied to the SEC, in writing. Or are you telling me that a man who says he is the Managing Director of a corporation is not responsible for corporate decisions?

Oh wait, perhaps you're right! I can't wait to see what President Romney is going to say he's not aware of once he totally fucks up in his new job.

That's the kind of POTUS he would be - not in charge of executive decisions. He'll have the right wing lunatics from dubya's administration, The US Chamber of Commerce, Donald Trump, the Koch Brothers, and Sheldon Addelson making all of the decisions instead. How's that going to work out?

The fact that these lies are coming straight from the Obama camp is pretty bad. It's not one of his super PAC's doing this.... it is his campaign. Sad.... [:/]

they are desperate right now!

Well, we'll have to wait and see. There are other interpretations besides what What the Washington Post say. Fact-Check is just opinions too. We all know that Romney is a liar ... that's not even in dispute ;)

We need to see the tax returns.

and he will provide them just like every candidate does but he is right not to let Barry and his cronies dictate when. They will do anything to talk about something other than Barry's record and the economy. FYI as a guy who worked in investments for a long time the link I provided makes sense... obama's cronies interpretation does not at all as much as you want it to be true. Y'all need to get over the fact that he is rich. Focus less on what he does with HIS money and more on what Barry is doing with OUR money. I cannot remember when being successful was interpreted as a bad thing. I don't think it ever came up with Kerry and he just married in to it.... JFK? Nope, not an issue.....

so do a lot of independents, and, lately, quite a few democrats as well

even so, it's not that simple on either side

Apparently, the Left BHO Bunch would like me to be more concerned about what Romney does with his money than Obama is doing with mine.

BHO gotta go!

Yeah. That's right. Just change the subject. Rely on false equivalence.

Of course, that was written BEFORE Bain's SEC filings came to light stating that in 2000, 2001 and 2002 Mitt was CEO, President, Chairman and sole shareholder.

Hard to believe that a CEO, president and chairman of a company has no involvement whatsoever in running the company. Unless you live in the GOP alternate universe.
