1) The President doesn't make these decisions. The Secret Service does. The President almost has no say whatsoever in the matter.

2) President Obama has little to "fear" from hispanics. His approval rating, even before the last couple of weeks, was about 2/3rds. Nice try though.

I don't know. i doubt he tries to appeal specifically to defined ethnic groups. Although, I understand he was invited to speak by the NAACP. We'll have to watch and see if the SS takes their forks away.

I saw another article about how the Vietnam Memorial was shut down for hours while POTUS was to give a speech on Memorial Day. I wonder if the SS was this protective previously or if they consider him more likely to be a target than past Presidents.

I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet..

I would say your assesment is correct. I don't know of any Vietnam Vets who are fond of Obama. Quite the contrary, in fact.

I think it's safe to say every President is a pretty big target, but this one in particular, I believe, probably has had more threats and especially when you consider the noise some ill advised members of the Tea Party repeated about watering trees while at the same time showing up to various rallies visibly armed.

The Secret Service does a top notch job as far as I'm concerned. It's a wonder any President can go anywhere in public. I can't even imagine that amount of responsibility. I don't think it's a wonder some of the team blows off a little steam every now and then when doing some advance work. Crazy business.

I don't think any President will ever match the vitriol and complete disrespect that Bush was shown from left-wingers. I have no idea how many death threats were made agaist him from the loonies on the left but my guess is there were quite a few.

I don't hear the hate against Obama, rising to the same degree as it did with Bush. With Obama it's more about getting him out of office and less about killing him. In fact I think Obama has more to fear from left-wing groups who think he has abandon them than he does from lunatic right-wingers IMO.
