davjohns 1 #152 June 26, 2012 Wow! The scenario you describe is out of line. Sorry you had to go through all of that. If you had been a deadbeat, it would have been different. That's the problem. Some are getting away with no responsibility. The responsible people are getting screwed...seems like.I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
normiss 906 #153 June 26, 2012 Oh they aren't finished yet either. I have one final (god I hope) deduction somewhere in limbo right now. Company took it, sent it to State of Florida, state shows case closed, check is being sent to me or employer and they can't tell me which. They are also claiming I owe them $416 dollars in "fees" over the years. Going back to 2003 $267 - "not sure - maybe more", 2006 modification costs "don't know how much",and $90 in 2008 for contempt (that was me asking where to turn myself in). I'm waiting for the notice of a hearing for those "fees". Cause I ain't paying. NEVER sent me any sort of billing to make me aware of those "fees". Nor are they in any of the orders from those hearings.

Shotgun 1 #156 June 27, 2012 One of the funny things that came up when I was looking for info on this story, is the fact that Rep. Lisa Brown authored a bill to ban a particular recreational drug. One that is now a felony to possess. So I just want to say... Finally, Rep. Brown, I'm flattered that you're so interested in my mouth, but "no" means "no." I mean, it's a pill that goes into my mouth, so the whole bill must be about regulating my mouth, right? Just like a bill to ban abortion after 20 weeks is all about regulating her vagina? (Interesting that someone can be so strongly against "regulating a woman's body" yet be so strongly for regulating what other adults can put into their own bodies.) OK, seriously. I think that she means well, and I appreciate that she is trying to stand up for women's rights (hey, she's doing a lot more than I am). I just don't agree with the way she's going about it in this particular instance.

Coreece 190 #158 June 28, 2012 Just to add...I much rather hear you and Wendy rather than this dimwit and her bitchy comments...I have no tolerance for disrespectful women and their pompous bullshit. There is certainly an eternity of difference between responsible women who take precautions, and girls like my promiscuous beloved friend who's had several abortions...few of which were late, and I mean late late term...it's sick. It gets frustrating when the arguments for the former are used to justify the later.Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are... normiss 906 #159 June 28, 2012 While I agree that's all true, you should consider that sometimes, the disrespectful woman is simply striking out to be heard because of the disrespect shown to her. Especially when it comes to her body. Just look at what Mississippi is trying to do.
funjumper101 15 #160 June 28, 2012 QuoteMy experience through family court was an eye opener. I have always done my best to both pay child support as well as support my girls. In every way I can. I always felt the threat of jail time for not paying. I was arrested and spent three days in jail for non-payment during a period of two years being unemployed for eight months. I was employed when they took me to court, was paying, was paying extra 20% to cover the arrears. They gave me thirty days to pay almost $8,000 to be current. When I said there was no way as I didn't make that much in thirty days, I was removed from court for contempt. They wouldn't even tell me where I could turn myself in. So, thirty days later, I had paid all but $3900 and was summarily arrested and jailed with a "purge bond". It took the jail three days to get me my wallet so I could use a credit card. My cell mate (weird!) was in on same charge, was given a 6 month sentence, and would be rearrested on release for non-payment during incarceration. The system will also take any IRS tax refunds, driver license, professional licenses, passport, 50% of unemployment, and any and all other monies they can locate and take. I understand the intent. The result is fucked up. I still will never understand how the hell the deadbeats get away with it. Allow me to point out that the court system is the same one that you would be dealing with if you were charged with a serious crime, for example, first degree murder. The excellence and reliability of the system might get you a death sentence. It is unfortunate that the court system doesn't take into account individual circumstances. There must be issues related to mandatory minimum sentencing, payment plans, etc that were implemented with the best of intentions, resulting in really crappy outcomes. The woman in Florida that got 20 years for shooting one round into the ceiling of her house comes to mind. One fair and just sentence for all offenders, with no judicial discretion. That is a solid right wing conservative policy. It is humorous on some levels to see a dyed in the wool RWC get zapped by an inflexible court system. It sucks to be on the receiving end of the practical exercise of the policies you and other RWCs support wholeheartedly. I am sorry that you have had such bad experiences. Perhaps you can use this as a way to start to get a clue as to what outcomes the practical application of right wing conservative policies results in. I can personally vouch for the draconian stupidity of the Florida and the Geoprgia divorce courts. I got lucky in one sense. When the judge said I was to pay $XXX, and I said that was more than my gross, she didn't cite me for comtempt...she just said, "Then you'll just have to get another job." Fortunately, negotiations between the lawyers got things down to a manageable level on the agreements for the final decree. My reality and yours are quite different.
