Skyrad 0 #6 June 21, 2012 Having worked in the NHS I have no doubt that some Dr's may be using the LCP incorrectly. However just because its happening in one hospital more than it should doesn't mean that its misused everywhere. People die its a fact, old people die more than young people of chronic disease so is it really such a surprise that they are more likely to be on a palliative care pathway? Also you might be surprised at how many frail elderly patients want to die, I have personal experience of patients begging me to kill them (no I didn't before you ask). Its not hard to see how some might. http://www.mcpcil.org.uk/liverpool-care-pathway/When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. I find it quite refreshing that someone from outside the USA is capable of figuring out how gullible Americans are. Funny how you don't see that reality, but instead get all huffy and insulted when the truth is exposed. That likely would put you in the "gullible" right wing conservative group. Those kind believe everything they read or see, no matter how factually incorrect the source is. Faux news is the only "news" organization that has gone to court to make sure that they can force employees to knowingly broadcast information that the broadcasters know to be untrue. Being insulted because someone accurately reported the truth is a sure sign of right wing conservative "thought" processes.

But for a civilized country you've a lot of extremely gullible morons, that's one of the reasons FOX News does so well on your side of the pond. Even our gutter press is well-informed and objective compared to that. It's also the reason that a complete idiot like santorum gets a long way in the race for president. The clip I showed isn't even insulting any more, it's so absurd that it becomes hilarious.

davjohns 1 #15 June 21, 2012 Why do some people assume that anyone who disagrees with them is RWC? The 'Wing' suggests they are way out of the mainstream. It's become just a standard insult as far as I can tell.I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
weekender 0 #16 June 21, 2012 >Truly, it never stops to amaze me how gullible Americans can be..... it could have easily implied that only some Americans in your opinion are gullible by using the word, "some". you did not and it could easily be read to include all. thanks for clearing it up. as a rule of thumb when i mean to insult people i try to make it as specific as possible. "Americans" is very very broad. Some Mexicans might have found offense, i say smiling."The point is, I'm weird, but I never felt weird." That being said, ask yourself: how many times over, say, the past 10 years, when you've heard or read people use the word "liberal", has it been used as some sort of pejorative? I'll bet it's the majority, and then some.

The Feds want it here just like the UK. No way. The UK NHS is a socialist program with tax dollars paying for government insurance, government hospitals, government doctors, and government pensions for those government doctors That's NOT how we do things here outside the VA. The Republican Medicare Part D program funnels a hundred billion tax dollars a year to privately owned prescription drug companies. As a little quid pro quo the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America made Billy Tauzin (the Republican Congress Critter who worked to pass the bill) their president with a $2M/year salary. The Democratic Obama Care program is expected to funnel a hundred billion tax dollars a year to privately owned health insurance companies (in the form of subsidies) and requires the citizens to make direct payments of billions more. It's still a little early to look for kickbacks but I expect they're coming. That's corporatism not socialism, those corporate interests want more spending not less, and if they can keep comatose elderly alive on machines for years longer they will to grab those dollars. Quote It's a wonderful thing. Expand payments on the bottom end by killing off the top end. Yeah, socialism is all the rage now. If these American programs were socialism they'd be nothing compared to what we've already done in the form of our military which could be the biggest socialist employment program in the world. Of course they're not socialist and the military isn't either - that's for the benefit of our privately owned defense companies, with Americans getting a few million unnecessary government jobs just a side effect (with no body invading Canada with 1/30th of our spending or #2 China at 1/6th the excess is obviously not needed).
