rehmwa 2 #2 June 14, 2012 as described in the article, I completely agree good precedent established in the court case I'd love to see that video. Apparently Rodriguez thought he was a pretty clever amatuer lawyer type..... people will find ways to rationalize what they want, it's really sad ... Andy9o8 3 #3 June 14, 2012 If the context hadn't been a tragedy, I'd laugh at him actually saying the words "I'm standing my ground" to the police dispatcher on the phone. What a poster child.
DaVinci 0 #4 June 18, 2012 If this is true: "During closing arguments, prosecutor Kelli Johnson said Rodriguez started the confrontation when instead of calmly asking Danaher to turn down the music he armed himself with a handgun and a camera and proceeded to harass people at the party. Johnson said Rodriguez lured and provoked Danaher and two other men to come out onto the street and threatened them by brandishing his gun." Then Rodriguez was an idiot. If this is true: "But defense attorney Neal Davis said he doesn't believe Rodriguez did anything illegal. He said Rodriguez went to complain and was confronted by Danaher and the two other partygoers, and that he didn't pull out his gun until he was standing in the street and Danaher approached him in a threatening manner." Then he was not. Still, a better course of action would have been to just call the police.
Skyrad 0 #5 June 18, 2012 I have to wonder at the mental capacity of such people. He shot his next door neighbour a primary school teacher over noise at a party? FFS, why didn't he just ask them to turn it down a bit or call the council's noise abatement team even, don't they have such things in the USA? really, this guy sounds like a social incompetent with rage issues, I hope they chuck away the key. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. DaVinci 0 #6 June 18, 2012 QuoteHe shot his next door neighbour a primary school teacher over noise at a party? Not according to one side of the story. He could have been attacked by people at the party for being a nosy wet blanket and asking them politely to keep the noise down. QuoteFFS, why didn't he just ask them to turn it down a bit According to his side of the story he did just that and they attacked him for it. Quotethis guy sounds like a social incompetent with rage issues Or the guys that attacked him for asking that they keep it down are. Two sides to every story. masterrig 1 #8 June 18, 2012 Sounds to me like someone who 'thought' they knew the law and was setting the scene by his statement that he was 'standing his ground'. Seems to me, the smarter thing to do would've been to ask the neighbor if he could quiet things down. Give the guy a few minutes to do so then, if the noise continues... call the cops.
