matthewcline 0 #26 June 11, 2012 It is far harder to "un-train us" than to train us. It becomes instinctive, it becomes the air you breath. Plus it is so much simpler to understand and lacks the drama, like GQ mentioned. Like so many of our friends that feel skydiving is "life", so it is with those that have deployed, "combat survival" is life, it stays with you, it is your life. Plus, we have the stigma to overcome, still, all Vets get labeled with some form of PTSD (Shell Shock etc) just for being a Veteran, regardless of disposition. We hear the label every day, in the news, from friends, and family. We hear it in every setting too. Daily some one here says to me "OK, Tomorrow we have the -(insert the spots name)- shoot, Matt shooting with the cameras, leave your guns at home." (Ha ha ha's, around the table ) I work for a film Production company, I figured out the context of shoot the first meeting, sheesh already. I only went into Senior NCO on a rampage mode once in the five years here, and that was after the Production Coordinator asked me too, since the film crew wouldn't listen to him, and we happened to be on a military installation. We could reduce our overseas bases to, maybe, half (if not more), and redirect those funds. Sadly, that money won't be used for those that the Politicians called upon. Panels will cut and save, another panel will redirect and spend. The two panels will only have the common connection that they work in or for the US GOV. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
tkhayes 348 #27 June 11, 2012 like I said, I never said it was easy I am not an adversary, I am an ally. I support the troops. I do not like war. I fully understand the true cost of war and therefore decided a long time ago that we should not be fighting them. yes we still need a military, but it has become absurd in the time since WWII, fully corrupt and driven mostly by misguided ideals and mostly making money for large corporations. We need to invest HEAVILY in our troops. More on PTSD and care, education, less on bullet-proof vests and artillery shells.
