Most Christians accept evolution

Wow talk about the pot calling the kettle black!

You can't stand me expressing my point of view here on this forum. Why don't you accept my point of view?

Come on guy. How many times do you have to be told?
Are your really that dense?
Your POV has been acknowledged and accepted over and over again. Your broken record, one-statement-fits-all response has added nothing to the discussion since the first time you uttered it.

You don't believe in God. And that's fine. You need "proof" fine. You won't get it but you can wish for it all you want. Fine.

Since you had to ask again, I have to assume that yes, you really are that dense.

On top of that:
You are dependent on physical proof when there is no possibility of it, you are ardently belittling people who have other points of view and then you whine when somebody mirrors your attitude....none of which are conducive to intelligent discussion. You get what you ask for.

So, I'll ask YOU:
Why don't you accept any other point of view?
My reality and yours are quite different.
I think we're all Bozos on this bus.

Coreece posted the first one on Life by the Spirit. I believe both are true and accurate.

You are missing my question. I am asking if you think that if we were able to question the authors of those quotes would they both share your definition of the word witchcraft?

Your question makes no sense to me. I am using those authors as reference to answer your original question about witchcraft.

edit to add:
I actually used the reference from 1 Samual. The one from Galatians was used by Coreece. You added that one in for some reason.

You gave me your interpretation of those quotes. Do you think the authors defined witchcraft as rebellion as you seem to have defined witchcraft. Or did I misinterpret your definition of witchcraft?

You are asking a question that I have answered. I believe in the Scriptural definition of witchcraft. And, I believe witchcraft exists in some cultures.

Is that another one of those "you're screwy because you used words having definitions and context that I don't prefer?"

Did I get your definition of witchcraft correct?

So you are saying the authors of both the scripture and the other quote are using the definition of witchcraft as you define it? As rebellion?

One author for 1 Samuel. I accept that one. Rebellion = witchcraft.

I wasn't trying to say there was two authors for the scripture.

What about the other quoted passage?

The passage quoted by Coreece is from Galatians, written by Paul. He only had Old Testament Scriptures to reference. I believe he was referencing 1 Samuel regarding witchcraft. Some other translations use the term sorcery. Sorcery can also refer to the use of drugs. The point is that they are all works of the flesh which war against the Spirit.

1 Samuel 15:23
For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.

It's interesting how you see this quote differently then I do.

When I read this it looks to me like the author says that rebellion is like the sin of witchcraft and that he is not equating witchcraft to rebellion. So in reading this I think that the author considers witchcraft to be something similar to rebellion but not the same.

I believe it is rebellion against God. That is to say following the flesh instead of the Spirit.

In reference to your post #661, some cultures practice witchcraft seducing powers that are not from God. It still glorifying the flesh. Only certain shamans may practice the art and so forth. The followers are seeking the help of man not of God.

When you say powers are you meaning something supernatural?

Sometimes it is demonic powers and spirits. Sometimes it is just showmanship. Even with showmanship demonic influence is at the root of the behavior.

1 Corinthians 12 states that the Christian has the ability to develop the gift of discerning of spirits. We can become aware of the difference between the Holy Spirit and others.

I have utilized this gift often in my counseling. I do not discuss it as such with the client but I allow the gift to guide me in group and in private session.

I am hanging in here with you now because the spirit of your messages is more honest and sincere.

I am just curious to find out how you think.

I won't bother you with my opinion.

Not really, I just don't think you would like my opinion of how you interpret the scriptures.

There is the shift toward rebellion. You believe your opinion holds some power over me, that it will affect my values and my life. That is just adolescent thinking. I am your elder and whether you like it or not, I have more experience in life and know more than you do.

You are just spitting into the wind son.

No, you cannot offend me. However, let me make you aware that it is late for this old man and I will have to sign off soon.
