davjohns 1 #26 May 16, 2012 I looked at an amalgamation of poll numbers. It does look like Romeny has closed the gap. Where it was just Rasmussen and ABC showing him slightly ahead, lately others are showing a little as well. Interestingly, the polls that show Romney ahead just show a slight margin. If they show Obama ahead, they tend to show a much greater margin.I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

davjohns 1 #28 May 16, 2012 Certainly possible. I just noticed that the same polling agencies kept getting the same results over time. That suggests to me that the methods of the agency are effecting the results more than the passage of time / changes in voter disposition. It made all of the results suspect in my mind.I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. lawrocket 3 #29 May 16, 2012 QuoteReally? I always saw him as about as interesting as Dole. Maybe it was just me. Dole was regarded as two things: (1) Darth Vader of the Hill; and (2) one of the most personable and funny members of the Senate when one-on-one. His campaign didn't want him too loose, and under control Dole became wooden. Gore may be the same way. Gore never ever seemed relaxed to me. He always seemed wooden and too uptight. But he may be very different interpersonally. My wife is hotter than your wife.
kallend 2,150 #30 May 16, 2012 QuoteWhat's really amazing - appalling? - to me as a lifetime student of history and politics, is how many really dull and mediocre personalities manage to become presidential nominees. Heck, become Presidents. For all the extraordinary talent and charismatic personalities throughout the history of US politics, so many - at least half? more? - of all US presidents have been real drips. It's embarrassing. quade 4 #33 May 16, 2012 Quotethe pay is fantastic... Not compared to even a mediocre CEO of any company in the Fortune 1,000. Considering the budgets and responsibility to make the correct decisions, no, the pay IS lousy even if you look at it over the amount a person makes after leaving the office. A retired President works a hell of a lot less than any Fortune 1000 CEO. And cannot be fired. He garnered 75M in his first decade of retirement. Your article, btw, only talks about outliers, not what "any Fortune 1000 CEO" did. Quote Clinton received $10.7 million for 52 paid speaking engagements last year, a sizable increase from the 36 paid speeches he delivered in 2009 for a total of $7.5 million. The most the former president had previously earned in one year was in 2006 when he earned $10.2 million for 57 events. His 2010 speaking fees were detailed in Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's annual financial disclosure report released Monday.
