sfzombie 3 #27 May 10, 2012 i wouldn't give two flips about someone finding a grenade. max kill radius 15 meters, walls pretty much stop all the shrapnel as well. no danger there, but had the drums contained gas, totally different story. of course, there is a lot that we don't know about this, it is unrealistic to form opinions based on what was reported. but, some people have their minds made up regardless of the facts.http://kitswv.com

Yep. >of course, there is a lot that we don't know about this, it is unrealistic >to form opinions based on what was reported. Agreed there. Might have been just code violations that resulted in condemnation of property; might have been an evil veteran-terrorizing government - or something else entirely. DougH 270 #29 May 10, 2012 Looks like an overreaction but we don't have enough of the full story. It would have been nice if they gave him a chance to get a engineer to certify the survival shelter, and then the option to fix to the engineers recommendations. Pumping it full on concrete looks like the worst option for the home owner. 90K of concrete? Overkill! This is why if you find a nice place out in the country with some acerage and no zone regulations."The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
normiss 906 #30 May 10, 2012 That's not how building codes work. To get a permit (here anyway) I had to submit engineer approved and official seal stamped plans to the building department for review and approval. THEN we are issued a permit along with a notice to commence the work. Each step of the way is inspected by each department of the building department, approved, failed, or re-scheduled if they are nice to give you a break. Final inspection to get a certificate of occupancy certifying the whole job as up to code and built properly. If you have the idiocy and cojones to actually build something without that process? THEY WILL TEAR YOUR SHIT DOWN!!!! Oh - and they bill you for that, then apply a lien for non-payment, and then sell your shit on the courthouse steps to get their money. Unincorporated areas of some counties also have code requirements....yes, you can be lucky and not get caught, but...... Is this where we start the conversation about more government????
