What did we all think of the White House Corespondents' Dinner this year?

I thought it was interesting how President Obama "owned" the silly dog issue rather than attempting to deny it ever happened or anything silly like that. Clearly he doesn't give a crap about the jokes.

Kimmel was okay. Not the best, not the worst. Very middle of the road.

We didn't watch or see any of it.
We were busy living life.

Right. Because cool kids don't waste their time watching trivial things like the President speaking. They have important, life affirming adventures by being in SC. :)

The President still needs to work on his delivery for jokes. Too stilted. If Kimmel had been the speaker, they wouldn't have laughed.

Understand no President is a professional comedian nor do they write almost any of their own material.

As for who got the bigger laughs, it's not a contest either.

For me, the big thing is what the President are willing to joke about because, although the President doesn't write the majority of his material, he certainly approves it.

I thought Obama was pretty funny, especially considering he's not a professional comedian. I thought he was funnier than Jimmy Kimmel, but that may have had more to do with the writing; some of Kimmel's jokes were a bit tasteless to me.

We the people are broke and they are spending our tax dollars at a record pace on stupid shit like this.

Thanks for the links. I haven't watched one since GWB had the impersonator playing his internal voice. That one was hilarious and self-effacing.

This one was too political for my tastes. Not sure if that's normal for an election year or not. I made it to ten minutes before shutting it down.
I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet..

But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

I see you really have a keen eye about what the government pays for. Uh . . . Maybe not.

who paid for Obama and the rest to get there? there was alot of our money spent there.

Because, you know, Washington DC is so far from where the President lives and he isn't ever expected to give dinner speeches.

Get real.

Why on earth would the President ever be involved in a dinner for something related to the White House?

I believe that most of the attendees had to purchase their own tickets, and probably provide for their own transportation. It's a fundraiser to give out scholarships to journalism students. I doubt that a significant portion of tax money was spent on the event. Though perhaps in the 92 years that it's been going on, a little has been spent...

I sort of like the idea of taking an evening for the White House to lighten up a bit. I was never a supporter of Bush, but I recall enjoying some of his speeches at the correspondents' dinners.

my point is that this economy is slowing, the government is spending us to death, and all these elites want to do is eat, drink and party. You are correct that we need to have some light hearted times, but it gets really frustrating watching these idiots suck us dry, have parties and take vacations. I think a little less traveling and golf for the white house and a little more work in drastically cutting spending would be in order at this time.

You sound like the guy whose company is going through restructuring and is concerned people only use paperclips once or issues #2 pencils one at a time and will only issue a new one if the old one is worn below 1 inch.

While it's true some small amount of money may have been spent that would not have been spent otherwise, the amount is so small it's incalculable.

You're barking up the wrong tree here. Go after something significant because going after this is just silly.

I Never really like it when ANy president " attempts to rub shoulders with the regular folks". It demeans His Position, and since we all know that very Few Presidents have what it takes to do Stand -Up, it mocks the audience by almost requiring snickers and applause....
NOTHING funny about what is going on in this World,,, and Yucking it up with the common folks... just doesn't seem appropriate IMHO...

Now on the Other hand,,,,,
Jimmy Kimmels comments about his H. S. Teacher ( Mister Mills) who claimed that he would "never amount to anything" was pretty good...:oB|

" Well NOW i"m gonna High Five the P O T U S . ;)
very creative concept...

But the icing on the cake was when Kimmel finishes with
"Eat It, Mills" !

disclaimer. Did Not schedule MY social agenda around the White House doings...

BUt i did see a video of it the next day. !!!
