wmw999 2,589 #2 April 23, 2012 One thing to remember about Reagan was that he was polite to people, and didn't talk down to them, or treat them as though they were imbeciles for disagreeing with him. He actually spoke with them, rather than at them. Wendy P.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)

Who raised income and payroll taxes? Who traded weapons to the Iranians? Who gave amnesty to millions of illgals? Who vetoed and anti-aparthied bill, only to have Republicans over-ride it? Who did nothing to stop abortion? What did reagan say about the secretary paying a higher tax rate than her wealthy boss? The Bus driver paying more than the rich? Reagan would not stand a prayer in todays GOP.

And let me remind you also that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue." ...But by 1996: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barry_Goldwater QuoteIn 1996, [Goldwater] told Bob Dole, whose own presidential campaign received lukewarm support from conservative Republicans: "We're the new liberals of the Republican party. Can you imagine that?"

People doesn't want to accept that supply-sides economics (aka Reagan economics) is nowhere near what we are experiencing since 2008 (zero-bound depression economics). The Reagan economics can only work for stagflation-type of recession. A medicine that cures lupus won't work on someone who has cancer. Correctly diagnose the problems then give the medicine. None of that radical "pay for what you use" stuff. The economically sophisticated understand that is much better to spend other people’s money. Thanks for the lesson, I feel smarter already! He actually spoke with them, rather than at them. Wendy P. That is an important point, I don’t challenge people, I challenge their Ideas, and I would hope they would do the same for me. We can only move forward through critical analysis. Unfortunately the politicians pander to the least common denominator and take the easy way out. Of course I want the world to be filled with daisies, and daffodils; with nothing but the smell of a spring rain coming from every exhaust pipe and smoke stack, but unfortunately I live in the real world where such musings are left to the poets and professors. As my Grandma used to say; “if ifs and buts were candy and nuts, oh what a Christmas it would be”. I take no umbrage to those who disagree with me, I have only pity.
