Also remember

He will not do adds for GM ON his show

He turns down millions each year because he picks who advertises ON his show

So I dont think you will see the companies you list getting any air time from him

When are you going to start a war on women thread with Maher at the center?

Or how all of Clintons women were treated by his machine?

To do so would go a long way toward ending the hypocrisy

>Or how all of Clintons women were treated by his machine?

Imagine if Clinton had been a republican judge in Montana:

RushMC: "Clinton is not a misogynist and never had sex with that woman."

Jclalor: "He admitted it!"

RushMC: "What you say is not the case. It's obvious that you are just out to smear him."

Jclalor: "He admitted it! On TV!"

RushMC: "He's not an adulterer because he is not and he said not. He is folding under the left craziness that you are carrying on here "

Jclalor: "He also admitted it in writing!"

RushMC: "No. I have a life with common sense. Not a need to pull PC bullshit"

You got to do better than that!

What about that Maher thread?

They reject "materialist medicine" and prefer spiritual healing. From their wiki:

Yeah, I hadn't really thought about them in this whole debate. They view all illness as illusory and able to be gotten rid of through faith. I would guess they would have to provide health insurance as well (at least through their media arm, Christian Science Monitor). At least they should have the cheapest premiums around...

Rush Limbaugh Closes First Hour With Dead Air

March 08, 2012 1:50 pm ET
MMFA Staff

Rush Limbaugh closed the first hour of his radio show on his flagship station, WABC, with 1:03 of dead air Monday.

While advertisers have fled Limbaugh's show since his misogynistic attacks on Sandra Fluke, the first hour of every show since those attacks aired on March 1 has concluded with at least one ad leading into an ABC News break at the top of the second hour. On Wednesday, the first hour concluded with an ad from Matrix Direct, which has told radio stations to stop airing its ads during The Rush Limbaugh Show.

At least 46 advertisers have reportedly dropped their ads from Limbaugh's radio show since his attacks on Fluke.

Similarly, during the commercial break that led into the show, there was 2:38 of dead air.

To be fair I think this thread was started before Limbaugh made his remarks. But as lawrocket said, reasonable discussion was poisoned because Rush's comments give the other side an easy "go to" response when they start losing debate points. Kind of like a universal "Oh, Yeah!?". ...and Maher is not even worth the risk of getting callouses on your typing fingers.

Female employees in the Obama White House make considerably less than their male colleagues, records show.

According to the 2011 annual report on White House staff, female employees earned a median annual salary of $60,000, which was about 18 percent less than the median salary for male employees ($71,000).

So women should be placed in better paying positions regardless of ability? How very Liberal of you.

This piece is useless unless it relates to females being paid less than males in equal positions.

I think it's great that you actually do understand the true Liberal position on the subject. It's a payout for votes.

Of course, there plenty of examples of how crappy positions, marketed in an emotionally manipulative fashion are used by politicians (of any parties) to buy votes.

Great example. Here's another one:

http://www.businessinsider.com/wisconsin-republican-says-women-are-paid-less-because-money-is-more-important-for-men-2012-4

Quote

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker opened up a new front in the GOP's war against women last week when he overturned his state's equal pay law, which made it easier for workers to sue their employers for wage discrimination.

Walker, a rising star in the Republican party, has come under fire for his decision to repeal the law, which was passed largely to address Wisconsin's huge gap in male and female wages. Since the equal pay law was passed in 2009, the state has risen from 36th to 24th in national gender pay parity rankings.

I don't think it is a payout for votes. I think it is an ill conceived solution to institutional racism or bias.

Take the Toronto Fire Department for instance. In Toronto roughly 47% of the population identifies themselves as a visible minority. Toronto is extremely multicultural.

Yet the far majority of fire fighters are white males. Actually it is quite unusual to see a fire fighter in toronto who is a visible minority, specially in more senior roles.

Do I think that forcing them to hire a certain number of visible minorities is the answer? No. However I do think there should be a very thorough review of the TFD hiring practices. There is no doubt in my mind that the department suffers heavily from institutional racism and bias.

Liberals at least are trying to solve the problem, ill conceived as it may be. Many conservatives refuse to see there might even be a problem. I find that much more unsettling.

that's actually more how I feel - my cynicism gets me rolling sometime

On that same theme - perhaps the conservatives see that the ill conceived solution would create a worse situation than the one the needs fixing and the only solution is to allow the population to mature - forcing it will retard maturity, not enhance

I'm kind of divided on the birth control issue.

1. Health care covering voluntary activity like sex seems wrong. Then, I'm not sure I even agree with my own assessment that it's voluntary. Pretty much a need for me. Still...so is eating, and that's health related as well. Does my health care cover vitamins and other optional meds? Not sure.

Then, there's the question of condoms. Does the health insurance cover that? Those prevent pregnancy AND disease that would subsequently be covered by health insurance. Seems the insurer would provide certain types of birth control that were in their best interest, at least.

2. Seems the health insurer would WANT to cover birth control to prevent the larger expense of birth, pediatrician costs, etc. Certainly they cover vasectomy and tubal ligation? And back to the question of condoms...
I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet..

But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

Life is a voluntary activity.

If you're going to say that sex is a voluntary activity, and that sexually related items shouldn't be covered, then why should pregnancy be covered?

You don't need a presciption to get condoms. The pill has to be prescribed by a doctor.

The health insurers definitely want to cover birth control. It saves them a ton of money. Pregnancy is expensive as hell, and if all goes well they have another expensive little person they have to cover. The only people who don't want birth control covered are the religious right. This isn't a financial question, it is a social one.
