The National Review's Katrina Trinko reports that Ann Romney is so frustrated with the media's coverage of her husband that she recently joked about strangling them, and suggested that some reporters weren't going to be allowed back on the press bus.

From Trinko's report, published this morning:


At [the Midland County Republican Club luncheon Sunday], Ann Romney also complains about the media treatment of her husband. “All of us in this room know the media loves Barack Obama. They don’t want anyone who has a chance of defeating him,” she says.

Speaking openly about how it was “getting harder and harder to be cheerful,” she laughingly says, “I am so mad at the press [that] I could just strangle them! And, you know, I think I’ve decided there are going to be some people invited on the bus and some people just aren’t going to be invited on the bus.”

The Romney campaign told me that Ann's comments were made "in jest."

"She was laughing when she said this," Romney press secretary Andrea Saul explained via email.

Saul added that "Ann has a very warm relationship with members of the press who travel with the campaign," a characterization reporters on the trail seconded.

"She is generally very kind," one told me. "Frequently described as more warm and genuine than the candidate."

This is outrageous. This woman is threatening to murder the press. Someone call child protective services as she is clearly unfit to be a mother. Is this the kind of violent woman we want as first lady? If she has these kind of violent tendencies, I can only imagine what a violent scumbag her husband must be.

What would happen to you and I if we made these kind of threats? Damn politicians think they can live by different rules than the rest of us. No wonder this country is going to Hell.

both frontrunners in the GOP are completely incapable of the job, or in winning. It's an embarrassment to the party that they are the choices people get. Obama is a slam dunk winner as a result.

as for Katrina, maybe she could slap some sense into her husband. He seems to get more stupid every week.

I think you're right. Not un-like any other politician, he'll say whatever he and his speech writers think he should say to get those votes.
Everything either one of them says is fodder for the night-time comedians. Stewart and Colbert just do it better.
