davjohns 1 #2 February 5, 2012 Well that's weird. The results of the poll right now are exactly symetrical between the two extremes.I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

rehmwa 2 #4 February 5, 2012 I think if you would have just put the descriptions there without the labels, than you'd have a better result. For example - of the bottom four or five I'd only call the very bottom one atheist, and the rest of that area is agnostic. And the top three are pretty much theist. Avoid the labels, and you get less SC type contention I'd be an atheist by your breakdown, and I refuse to accept that label which I consider absolute. ... Well, for me the "mud throwing" is one of the reasons I can't follow any of the religions that are out there. They are either created by man to exercise control over the masses, or if they were divinely inspired, then they have been perverted b man to exercise control over the masses. That doesn't change my belief in a God of some sort. It's just that I can't follow the specifics of any of the organized religions out there. But many of them do have many very positive aspects. I voted "Theist", but I fall between that and "Weak Theist." I have uncertainties, but I'm not "very" uncertain. To me, the hard core theists and atheists are equally closed minded. Well, ya know...that's just like, uh...your opinion man. QuoteIt's kinda the same way I feel when you throw mud at the other christian denominations, as if your mythology is better than their mythology. Most christian denominations agree on the essentials. The little meaningless trivial issues are not typically a cause of contention. Christianity is based on scripture, so it only makes sense to understand scripture as best we can. I'm more inspired by dedicated men who excercise due dilligence. Their arguments tend to show and understanding of hermeneutic concepts and typically embrace the cultural, historical and circumstantial context of a given time period and generally include an etymological background for any significant terms found in the selected scripture references... I'll take their arguments any day over some 20 year- old fresh outta some 2-year "seminary," who's only concern is to make you feel all warm and fuzzy by blowing hot air up your ass by telling you "this is what the bible means to me, so empty your pockets suckers, I got tuition bills to pay and the senior Pastor needs a new Bentley." No thanks, I could do that by myself if that's what it's about....
