Pravda means Truth.

And Izvestia means News.

Old Soviet saying: "In Pravda there is no Izvestia, and in Izvestia there is no Pravda."

"In United States, you can always find party. In Soviet Union, Party always finds you."

What the world needs to do is collectively turn their backs on this guy and agree not to cover him.

So the media should determine what they think is best and then give the public only the information which works towards that goal?

well, in this case in seems like the Candidate is promoting his failing TV show, just like when he pretended he was going to run last year.

The media should determine what segment a story runs under. "Trump bluffs about running again" should go under entertainment, not election news.

So the media elites should ascertain the truthfulness and intent of a statement and spin it according to their own determinations, rather than just print the facts as-is and let the public decide for themselves?

People do seem to like FOX, so there's something to be said for that.

Ascertaining the truthfulness and intent of a statement? Agreed....it'd be nice if the rest of the alphabet shows would do the same.

I should have put opinion tags around the second sentence.

The media is going to determine the segment they report things under. And the order in which they are reported. Period. Otherwise we get just an alphabetical listing of news stories. While that might be fine for some web pages, a 30min broadcast show can't do that.

You know as well as I that there is no such thing as truth. Only perception. A good reporter may try to write what actually happened, but their perceptions are tainted, no matter how much they try to cleanse those stories of perceptions, they will never be 100% "true".

So to me, Trump blathering on about running indy, should belong in entertainment news, as it looks like he's just trying to get more airtime.

Good news for, TMZ, Comedy Central, John, Steve and President Obama.

Bad News for the Country, if he is really going to try and run.

Matt

Agreed. Let us not lose sight of the fact that the Donald is an opportunist come entertainer. TV ratings, it's all about TV ratings.
Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.

in this case consider the axiom: "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice..." Save that this is really the third strike after that farce last month when he offered to moderate a debate.

So you're okay with that state of affairs?

Heck, if the media are so all-fired perfect at picking politicians, all of us citizens should just get out of the way and let them pick the next president. No need for elections, campaigns, and all that nasty expensive stuff. Think of all the time, energy and money we could save. Let's just let newspaper and TV people pick our new leader for us.

Fuck no, I am not okay with the way things are now. That's why I'm transitioning from finance into politics this summer, precisely because I'm fed up.

Specifically pushing for freer markets, that kinda stuff.
