Normal people aren't starting QBs for NFL teams either.

QuoteI've always found celebrating scoring to be unprofessional - seems a real professional shouldn't be so surprised about succeeding once in a while. It's pretty juvenile
I agree but then....we're talking PR....particularly so for TV.
Puttin' on the Ritz is good for ratings much as dirty laundry is.

QuoteQuoteSo then it's okay to ridicule homosexuals who dress up and behave weird in public to exhibit their sexual traits?
And it's okay to ridicule skydivers for risking their lives jumping out of airplanes?
Anyone who does anything "abnormal" deserves whatever ridicule they get?
I'm not saying it would be OK. I'm saying it would be understandable.
If you, JR want to ridicule the gay pride parade being held in your city, I will disapprove of your individual behavior, but understand the mob mentality. I will also say a gay pride parade in your city probably does open itself up to ridicule and would be partly responsible for negative reactions to it. It would be the organizer's right to hold the parade, but it would be naive of them to think there isn't going to be a reaction to it.
So then you disapprove of those who ridicule Tebow for his religious beliefs?

QuoteI don't hate Tebow, I do hate the Tebow Phenomenon. Why do all these Christians think that God is more concerned with the playoff ambitions of the Denver Bronco's quaterback over some of the more pressing world problems?

QuoteI have no doubt that God versus Himself would end in a tie. So yes, He'd be winless.
That would not be perfect.

I suspect they'll be playing with a cubed ball?

He could beat the point spread, at the very least.

It's simple. They don't. It's the religiophobes who cranked up the bandwagon. Welcome aboard!

Now there's a philosophical conundrum!

His team would involve a round ball and two nets.

Bullshit. The press has been gushing about this guy's religion and his devotion to it since his junior year. The first time I ever heard of him I tuned in to watch a football game and was given a 10 minute lecture about what a wonderful person he is off the field because somehow proselytizing makes you a good person. I guess Tom Cruise is a saint.
QuoteThe press has been gushing about this guy's religion and his devotion to it since his junior year.
And your point is....may I guess?
"Since they "gushed" it's their fault that I got wadded up and started the bashing in response."

Reminds me of my Mom when my nephew put on a porn tape.
"That's the nastiest thing I've ever seen in my life! Especially near the end when the guy at the beginning......" True story.
So, backatchya....Bullshit.
What is it...the press, the Christians, Tebow himself, the announcers, your willingness to sit through 10 minutes of stuff that upsets you, Tom Cruise....you listed so many.
Maybe you missed the idea that whatever "gushing" was going on, the religiophobes got wadded up and got the bandwagon cranked up.
In your case, you could have just
a) muted
b) left the room
c) changed channels
d) turned it off
e) ignore it
f) laughed at the idiocy of using national TV to extol the virtues of one specific player
g) laughed at the TV director even considering broadcasting it
h) gotten all PO'd and jumped on the bandwagon.
Personally, I chose, f) and g).
Oh...it was the "gushers" that started it?

When? What lecture? What network?
In Provincetown or Key West, no. In East Bejesus, Idaho, why not?
In Perris or Z hills, no. At a Acrophobes Anonymous meeting, why not?
I do not know about deserving, but one gets used to it.
