footage emerges showing U.S. troops urinating on dead Afghan bodies

Here again, what's the fuss? It's like putting women's panties over the enemy's head. Big deal. I couldn't even detect the urine flow in the video.

Since the repeal of DADT, there are probably videos of U.S.Troops urinating on each other. One of the Marines understood the meaning of "Golden Showers."

Back in the day, troops would often cut off an ear and attach it to their web gear after leaving a unit death card in the corpse's mouth.

It's called combat and not everyone is cut out for it. But, if you are, you better have the right attitude about it. Otherwise, you won't live very long.

you're joking, right? This is a troll post. It has to be.

Because someone claiming to be a Christian would never write something like this in seriousness. right? A Christian would never think this is an OK thing to do, just part of war, just "boys will be boys".

Trolling, right?

I think you're riding the wrong horse on this one.

They know better, and should be better disciplined than that. They are better than this.

Additionally, they have all read, and been briefed on how the enemy, and their supporters, react to things of this nature.

Bad move, inexcusable.

So you were perfectly fine with it when they dragged those dead US soldiers through the streets of Mogadishu?

When we first went to Somalia back then I opposed the action, and recommended pacification by means of Arc Light strikes on Mogadishu. Needless to say, some of the more gentle of my co-workers concluded that I was heartless, and that we should be there to help the poor Somalis.

After the Blackhawk Down incident, the sentiment was that I was too timid by limiting action to conventional weaponry.

It is a point well taken. Turning Mogadishu into a big parking lot would be a huge improvement.

Grow some hair on your balls, people..... War usually tends to get very nasty. There are loads of vids of the Taliban beheading people. Does that bump up ANA recruiting?
Somebody, I'm sure can pull up pix of dead German civilians melted in to the streets of Dresden. Then someone else will post a pic of bodies at a SS camp. Then another.....
Wars get B-A-D.

I can't disagree with your point. I know this stuff happens that's all.

Your absolutely right, war is very nasty. The last thing wee need to do when we are fighting a crazed enemy that has the majority of the support of the local population, is to have photos of us pissing on them. This video will not result in more of our troops coming home in the same condition they left in.

What did the vast majority of the foreign insurgents say was their reason for coming to Iraq and fighting the Americans?

No but, I understand why. War is kind of a tit for tat game.

I was not aware of that. I never saw such a reference.

The Ace of Spades was popular. The guys with whom I discussed this custom stated they had unit business cards printed in country.

It would have been much more practical, yes, but a bit counter productive to the original goal of the mission "protecting the good citizens of M." (If I remember it right.) Also there's some ethical issues surrounding nuking cities. But the whole point was that the desecration of the corpses of US soldiers caused a gigantic outrage too.

And...? When is a crazy person's excuse for finding piety valid? It's been explained to me, that the killing in Iraq had less to do with the US, than the differing factions competing for power in the country. As we see today, the killings continue unabated by much at all.
I'm not an apologist for the Iraq or Afghanistan wars. But, since I have been to a war, I do dare to offer an opinion.
