QuoteIt may be true that welfare is up under Obama, but when you inherit the worst economy since the great depression, you would expect that.
QuoteThe part you left out is it is also up for whites.
It is, yes... but it is also *falling* for whites and latinos, where it is holding steady for blacks.

QuoteThe OP was on Gay Marriage, your first post, the second of this thread dodged the issue of this thread.

White unemployment, while up, is still 1/2 of what black unemployment is. I think where you are wrong is your perception that Santorum is blaming blacks in some way. I didn't get that from the video. I got that he saw it as a pressing problem. But this perception is what you often hear me refer to as left-wing victimization. It isn't always real victimization but it's often incorrectly perceived that way

Liberal 'soft racism' via lowered expectations: "You can't make it without our help to smooth your way and support you."

QuoteQuoteActually it's the other way around; he said black because he is a bigot. There are black Americans in every strata of society, there are members of every ethnic and racial group on welfare, but when Rick thinks about welfare he only thinks it concerns blacks.
Amazing how you know what he's thinking...did kallend finally get all the kinks worked out of his telepathy machine, then, or are you really Professor Xavier in disguise?
You chopped the part of the paragraph quoted where I admit that I could be mistaken, that he could just be pretending to be a bigot to pander to the knuckle dragger vote.
QuoteI would think "holding steady" is an improvement. With the birth rate for black teenagers at the lowest rate in 10 years, I would expect welfare to start going down for blacks.
I think a reduction in teen birthrates for blacks will have some longer term positive effect. Hopefully it will give many a chance to get a better education without being bogged down with the responsibilities of parenthood at a very young age.

There are black Americans in every strata of society, there are members of every ethnic and racial group on welfare, but when Rick thinks about welfare he only thinks it concerns blacks. At least when he is stumping for the nomination he talks that way. It is possible that he is only saying that for the votes, but I have faith in his sincerity. He is who he presents as. I would support Perry or Cain over him.
No you could not be more wrong. Rick is not a bigot, he is much worse. He does not believe a word that he says but he know that it will appeal to a scared and confused electorate.

Quoteso i watch the video.....
the guy is rude
he commandeers the discussions...
he twists things to suit HIS point of view
he dismisses anyones' voice which tries to 'correct' him
he does NOT answer the question(s)
seem like a perfectly capable Politician
I suppose you prefer your politicians to just lie in order to diffuse bullshit questions.

Well, he might have been a bigot because he was talking about people who use welfare and described them as black. But of course he didn't say black, he said bleaugh-k, so he's definitely not a bigot.

So if Obama had referred to his grandmother as a typical huwhatte person, then he would have been labeled a bigot. Got it.
On a side note, I really don't understand why Santorum didn't just admit he said "black" person.

>person, then he would have been labeled a bigot.
Heck yes! He's been labeled as a bigot for far less than that.

i don't "prefer" ANYbody to Lie...
as for "bullshit question"...
maybe,,,,, but He's at a college podium fielding questions from a crowd, for whom ones' choice for marriage is quite likely much different than HIS... That's the way a diverse country works...
people have different opinions of things.
The person asks about 'freedom to choose ones' spouse', and He turns it into a 3 way or more, 'orgy'... c'mon...
That's why i call him a true 'politician'...the type of which have DRAGGED this country down into a crisis, socially (pitting one group against another)
morally ( marching all over the place 'spreading democracy')
financially ( creating "trade Agreements" that seem like they always backfire)
... So he's "honest" in trying to explain HIS position... big deal.. if his position is one of irrational inflammatory or unsubstantiated statements, to "SWAY the electorate", then HIS words carry just as much bullshit as you seem to think the question contains .
The question was, simply paraphrased.... " Should any two individuals be able to enter into a legal state of marriage, as They so choose.."?? How is that bullshit??/ Because the speaker at the podium turns into a wacko whenever that subject is raised, and is sooo conservative that we all "KNOW", he's gonna have a nerve touched. and that His reaction is alllll the questioner was trying to expose??/... Should all questioners at such rallys be "screened " and those deemed to be about to ask a "bullshit" question , be refused the chance to raise THEIR voice??... c'mon....
In today world the question on it's own is an acceptable one.. the subject is currently one of interest.
I'm preety traditional and always see marriage as male/female. BUt i'm also openminded enough to accept that there ARE other ways to do things, and other ways that peopel will behave....
This guy???
He goes waaay off on a tangent and then tries to verbally bully All the dissenting voices, drawing the attention to himself, even though his words AND posturing show NOT an iota of respect, for the very folks from whom he is courting a vote..
like i said...
POLITICIAN...... the hell with ALLL of them...
jmy out.
