And, if you really want to see some lane-splitting, I'm currently in Sao Paulo, Brazil, the lane-splitting capital of the world, I believe. Even in Rio they comment on how crazy it is.

Wendy P.

I challenge that contention!

My vote is for Saigon. Saigon HAS to be the lane-splitting capital of the world. Anybody that has ever driven a vehicle of any type in Saigon will testify to that.

Picture this...
You're stopped at a light and you look up in front of you at the other side of the intersection and you see this:
A solid line of vehicles, mostly Honda 50's, lined up side by side from one wall of one building on the left all the way across, including the sidewalks, to the building on the right all revving engines with a huge cloud of blue smoke choking the sky blotting out the sun.

You look to your left on your side of the intersection...then look to the right...and see the same thing...wall-to-wall.

Now the light turns green.....:D:D:Dlet your imagination run...you won't be wrong.
My reality and yours are quite different.
I think we're all Bozos on this bus.

Yep. I hear someone is currently suing Cessna over a similar issue. It turns out those propellers can kill you when they're running! They are clearly unfit for their purpose.

This bothers me less than Lane Splitting. These fuckers are begging me to open my door in their path and just submit the damage claim to their insurance company.

i'm more than observant about motorcycles, but riding a donorcycle does not entitle you to break the law.

Why would you want to open your door and injure a biker?

Do you realize that some of us ride motorcycles that are air cooled and must keep moving to prevent the bike from overheating?

I had a $1000+ repair bill when one of those assholes lane split and knocked off my mirror, and smashed the hell out of my fender, hood, and A pillar... And the asshole just kept going...

Bummer for you Mr Penis Face :)
Some older driver in a large sedan side swiped my friends Prius causing all kinds of damage. They kept on going. It has nothing to do with bikes. Hit and runs happen all the time and they've happened to me.

Do you have any idea how many cars fail to even notice other drivers on the road? It's especially apparent when a driver doesn't see a motorcycle riders. I've made eye contact with the person who simply looked at me, then took my lane. That would have been his fault and you know what whould have happened if I let him hit me? I'd be hurt, and he'd have just driven off leaving me there on the road.

It's called Lane Sharing in California and there are no specific laws to prohibit such action. I've personally passed the CHP in the same lane. You know what they did? They moved toward the left of the lane to allow easier passage.

Sorry you had a hit and run occur but your anger is misdirected.

Have a great day!

For every person that says "I can fit my bike through there with no damage", there's 3 more that can't without clipping mirrors...yet they try it anyway.

Hence my anger, but since Donorcycle riders fancy themselves "special," I'm the asshole...:S

The fact remains that, on the laws of physics alone, the car will win, so it's not advisable to tempt fate no matter how good you fancy yourself on a bike...

It's also advisable not to intentionally move into the path of an oncoming vehicle such as a motorcycle.

When a car driver is being an ass, speeding drifting into other lanes texting and yammering on the cell phone, you don't really notice but when a bike blazes past you, they're idiots!

Cars will win, that is true. I let asshole drivers have their way. If I let crummy drivers bother me, I'd be far to stressed. I tend to just leave the area they are in and choose my path. I don't fancy myself special and most riders don't. That's your percieved notion backed by anger. I do however find it irratating when drivers have no respect toward others. Put certain people behid the wheel of a car and they become a different person.

I've had people road rage me like mad while I'm driving my car. They pulled into my lane while I was still in it. I let them know by gassing it and getting out of their way. They flipped out, tailgated me, flipped me off, pretended they were going to smash the rear end of my vehicle.

We pulled into the same groceray store parking lot. Rather than attempt to engage them with anger or my fists, I said hello and they backed off rather quick.

These stories can go on an on. Just drive, don't be an ass. Road rage is dumb. Sure I get it sometimes but nothing major and I certainly don't attempt to ruin someones day.

For someone who doesn't even ride a motorcycle, let alone a HD you sure seem to know a lot about how hot they run. Could you even concede that perhaps, just maybe, after sitting in rush hour traffic for long periods of time on a very hot day that it just may be possible for an air-cooled 1400-1800 cc engine to over-heat occasionally?

I know how hot internal combustion engines run. And if I burned myself while working on one (by say touching the exhaust manifold) I'd think "well that was stupid of me" rather than "Hey, I can sue Volkswagen for millions!"

Of course fewer and fewer people think like that every day.

Yep. As with any vehicle. Good vehicles do it less often, shitty vehicles do it more often. If yours does it too often, a good solution would be to fix your shitty vehicle - or even buy a better one.

Still, you have to admit that having a .50 cal mounted inside your grill would be nice some times.

I wish I had one mounted on my handlebars sometimes. Maybe a few handgrenades too.

Some of the old timers used to carry a small ball-peen hammer with them and when a car got too close or cut them off, they put a little ding in the car.

Agreed, you could also split lanes if it's legal in your State.
