grimmie 186 #1 December 27, 2011 I have been cracking up lately at political posts on the internet. One of the greatest inventions was a "comments" section under articles on the web. Like or dislike Obama, there are some pretty off base and far out comments people like to regurgitate about him. Muslim, Socialist, Anti Christ, etc. I started thinking about Reagan, and what the attack machine would look like against him. Reagan couldn't speak without a teleprompter, the Pope was worried he was the Anti Christ, he and his wife belived in the occult and fortune telling, he negotiated with terrorists, he tripled the defecit, he put every traveler at a high risk by firing the PATCO controllers, he slashed funding and put homeless mental patients out into society, he funded an ilegal war in Central America, torturing and killing thousands, he wasted billions on a defense system out of the movies that never could work, he raised the debt limit many times, could you imagine if Obama did all of these things that the GOP worships Oh yeah, and could you imagine if Biden became president next and pardoned all of the illegal operators of the administration! GOP'ers heads would explode. Ronald Reagan, the POTUS that brought you Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz and the Bush family.

mnealtx 0 #4 December 27, 2011 Quote dispute one thing I mentioned with a fact. Facts to counter the fallacies? Sure. Reagan could make speeches *without* the prompter - Obama had to have one at a friggin' *elementary school*, ffs. Nancy was the one obsessed with fortunetellers, not Ronnie. A Democratic Congress controlled the purse strings (hence deficit) and debt limit increases.Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. billvon 3,120 #5 December 27, 2011 >Reagan could make speeches *without* the prompter . . . Yes, he could - but he couldn't do it without cue cards. He couldn't even get through meetings without cue cards. >Nancy was the one obsessed with fortunetellers, not Ronnie. And Ronnie signed the law legitimizing fortunetellers in California, not Nancy. It doesn't matter much. As Rich alluded to, Reagan would not have a chance in hell of getting the GOP nomination today. Not enough of an extremist. quade 4 #12 December 28, 2011 The fact of the matter is, Reagan made his living as a professional spokesman far more than a professional actor. matthewcline 0 #15 December 28, 2011 In the grand scheme of things that number may be so small as hard to measure. Just look at the various parties "Leaders" in the US, the top of each party chase the money. Our "top" actors do so as well. The exceptions would be hard to find, but a small group to feed when you gathered them all up. MattAn Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!! Gravitymaster 0 #16 December 28, 2011 Of course those commercials were made before the Surgeon General proclaiming that cigarettes caused cancer. That compared to a President who is either too stupid or weak-minded to KNOW that cigarettes are bad for you in spite of all the evidence we have now and have had for many years. grimmie 186 #19 December 28, 2011 What if Obama sent a guy to Iraq to sell them WMD's, or took credit for Russia collapsing, or was running an illegal war in Nicaragua. What if Obama declared Afghanistan Freedom Fighter Day, or turned a blind eye and joked about a new deadly disease? More Dem talking points

mnealtx 0 #21 December 28, 2011 QuoteWhat if Obama sent a guy to Iraq to sell them WMD's The United States exported support for Iraq during the Iran–Iraq war|over $500 million worth of dual use exports to Iraq that were approved by the Commerce department. Among them were advanced computers, some of which were used in Iraq's nuclear program.[29] The non-profit American Type Culture Collection and the Centers for Disease Control sold or sent biological samples of anthrax, West Nile virus and botulism to Iraq up until 1989, which Iraq claimed it needed for medical research. A number of these materials were used for Iraq's biological weapons research program, while others were used for vaccine development.[30] So, a request for medical research material is now knowingly 'sell them WMDs'? Yup, sure sounds like another Dem talking point. Quoteillegal war in Nicaragua As opposed to an illegal war in Libya?Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. The man was nowhere near as great as his myth and by today's "Republican" standards would be a "Republican In Name Only." Oh how the inmates are running the asylum when even Reagan isn't considered conservative enough. Reagan wasn't that Conservative. Only someone with far left views would think he was. Your attempt a smearing him was lame. Those cigarette ads were made before the Surgeon General's Report on Cigarettes. I don't ever recall Reagan smoking. If you think Republicans today are to the right of Reagan, consider how much to the left the Democrats are to Kennedy.
