The real way to fight this is wait several months and look at the books of the "charity" to see if the money is really going where they said it would.

Are you recommending an audit for ONLY the religious plates, or for ALL the specialty plates?

I'm recommending a tactic, not taking sides on the belief systems.

And when the audit shows that the state's vendor for specialty plates is properly dispensing the charity funds, what then?

Then I have no issue with it. I'm guessing that's not going to be the case here though. Call me cynical, but I distrust the vast majority of charities and especially ones that appear to disingenuously hide behind religion.

If you believe there is a God, then why would He need your money to work miracles?

Given the garbled grammar here

Ugh, it was wasn't it...my bad.

Christians have clung desperately to Jewish tradition and family lore, and I am unaware that this was done with anything approaching Jewish approval.

First off....if anyone here is supporting White power tags, it'd be you...

You haven't met Winsor; have you? [:/]

No, but let's just say that many of his messages would not be approved by Al Sharpton, but I still shouldn't be making comments like that. I hate when people do that to me.

Your bias is showing again...

Lots of charities do a less than perfect job of serving their stated goals. I don't believe that religious ones are any more prone to that than any others, and you have certainly provided nothing to support that assertion of yours.

This particular charity is not "hiding behind religion", they're openly advertising it.

Charity organization financial statements are publicly available to anyone for the asking. Feel free to do some research and try and prove your allegations, rather than just throwing out cheap shots based upon your personal bias against religion in general.

God may not need money, but the ordinary people who do good things on his behalf, do. Food and housing aren't free for mortal souls.

I'm with you, on the cynical part. One charity that really gets me is the one saving abused animals. Namely The Humane Society of The United States. You know the one, with Sarah McLaughlin and all the abused animal videos. They make it sound like they are somehow affiliated with local humane societies. They are not! Some of the others are the 'adopt a child' ones where they write you letters for sending them money. Maybe, they are legit but I do wonder about them.

Then why bring "God" and the phrase "One State Under God" into it at all?

Why not simply use the phrase, "proceeds from this license plate go to feed hungry children?"

???
-License plate motto
-charity goal
???
replacing one iwth the other?
I don't get it.

Looks like you're using something out of left field and something out of right field and asking what's behind the goal post.
My reality and yours are quite different.
I think we're all Bozos on this bus.

Can you not see how one currently has nothing to do with the other? That instead they're simply appealing to the "Christian" sentiment (as evidenced by the crosses) of "one state under god" which isn't even truthful regardless of its legal standing in Texas.

Lemme ask you this, if the same license plate with the exact same slogan had been produced but with a crescent moon, what would you think?

No doubt a new product from Apple. You sync your controversial thread topics and the device makes random comments. The iWTH, for when you just don't care.

I was giggin' Popsjumper.

I had no idea you were a Texas Aggie. ;)

:D:D No, not an Aggie. 'Preciate the compliment, though.

Popsjumper called me on a mis-spelling typo and I was getting him back for it. :D

WRTO your statement, yes. That's why I was questioning your statement.

I would think, "Meh. So what?"
I'd think the same, with an added chuckle, at the end if it said "666" .

We're still trying to help you kick your comma addiction.
The first step to recovery is to admit you have a problem.

That means a lot. I know it's been a problem... I just don't know what to do. You have no idea... :$[:/]

Well... the first thing to realise... is that you can't just... substitute... one addiction... for another... It just doesn't help.
