Quote"This week, the supercommittee formed by the Budget Control Act, which I opposed, failed to present to Congress and the American people a plan for deficit reduction. As a result of this failure, the Department of Defense will begin planning for sequestration, an indiscriminate budget cutting process that will result in overwhelming job losses for military and civilian personnel, break promises to our nation's veterans and, most importantly, continue the deliberate dismantling of the greatest military the world has ever known. The American people will not stand for such a reckless national security strategy and I will use my position as Chairman of the House Armed Services Readiness Subcommittee to work with my colleagues and fight with every resource and tool at our disposal to stop these dangerous cuts to national defense from occurring." 'overwhelming job losses for the military'? Well join the club. The civilian population has had overwhelming job losses for years now. 'break promises to our veterans'? Politicians have been breaking promises to regular citizens for 30 years now, if not centuries.... 'dismantling the greatest military the world has ever known'? Well if it so great and so mighty, then it can afford to be trimmed a bit - suck it up cupcake. So we're not going to raise taxes.....but we should only cut spending. But then we cannot cut spending (in the military) just 'cause I said so! Anyone else find this amusing on all sides....?

Yet, 'Mericans fall for it nearly every time.My reality and yours are quite different. I think we're all Bozos on this bus. lawrocket 3 #3 November 24, 2011 Hey. Military SHOULD be cut. I agree with that. The trillion in cuts coming to it over the next decade? Okay - let's do it. And then many of you will be wondering, "Hey. The military has been cut to shreds. How come the national debt is at $25 billion?" And you'll then, like Simpson-Bowles before you, figure out that military spending is nowhere near the big dog... DO it to the military. And gthen do it to Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid. Military cuts are a good start. My wife is hotter than your wife.

Military cuts are a good start. ITs a big dog alright.. eating us out of house and home for 60+ years... ALL spending. Gen Eisenhower told us all about it.... and the 1% have been giving it everything it has wanted... since they get the real money for its "services". Social security... in case you forget as many of you seem to do... has been paid BY all thos who worked to build this country for the last 80 years... till some low life politicians figured they would raid all that money that was just sitting there.... hey.. lets hand THAT over to the 1% too... they are special... they deserve it.
