I am still confused, I quoted 1950's gas prices and you rebut with a chart that goes back to the 1980's.

The bottom line is that gas, on an inflation adjusted basis is cheap. As one global warmest lamented; "the problem with fossil fuels is not that there is not enough but that there is too much."

I use CO2 in my CORAL REEF tank to help maintain alkalinity and calcium levels.

Dump some SO2 in there.. just for grins.[:/]

interestingly, the idea has been floated as a way to combat global warming. If global warming is, in fact, the greatest risk, then SO2 aerosols would be the biggest bang for the buck in cooling us down. It's all the other problems that it causes....

Yeah... things like massive kill offs of entire forests.. the depletion of nearly every amphibian species from some areas of this continent.... the list is long... so duming acid into the oceans.... yeah.. that can't hurt right????:S

>attempting to do this artificially.

I know you have that issue, and I actually agree that supporting an alternative in a big way is a mistake - because it causes artificial market forces that potentially give an artificial (and perhaps completely unsupportable) boost to one technology over another...

whoa! stop right there as we're good. after that, you are really in contradiction with the point.

You are simply only allowing the market to decide against what you consider to be bad choices from your predetermined list. But the market doesn't get to choose 'for' the alternate options.

Is that all you have? I'm going to tell mommy?

On a level playing field I would love to play and add some balance to the incessant denier head in the sand tactics of corporate energy.

Interesting that you are incapable of sticking to the subject... rather than taking off on attacking someones position during the discussion, or is it you just can't refute the facts??

I am not attaching you, I am attacking your position, it is weak, and not supported by real science. As far as personal attacks; May I remind you that you wished me to die a slow and painful death by cancer just a few weeks ago. If you cant run with the big dogs stay on the porch. Believe me sister, I am the last one with whom you want to play intellectual jujitsu. Notice how Kalland had smartly remained silent in this conversation?

Billvon gave her and rush a warning in another thread and this one sounded serious. It appears Jeanne is trying for real to debate for real.

So don't bait her when she's trying to play nice.

Tsk tsk tsk....

I am a firm believer in consequences for actions.. if you want to wantonly pollute the planet.. causing harm to thousands of people who are stuck drinking the crap and breathing the air you pollute... I can only hope, that which you do not believe in.. jumps up and slaps all those who do not believe it can happen to them. Is that personal.. no... but I do think karma is one big ole bitch... that needs to slap a whole lot of deniers REAL hard.

>So Bill you agree that the whole AGW thing is a big hoax or at least poor science.

Nope. AGW is quite simple science. Politicians on both sides - deniers and alarmists - excel at distoring the science to fit their own agendas.

But the science is simple. CO2 is a greenhouse gas, we are increasing its concentration in our atmosphere by burning fossil fuels, and temperatures, on average, are going up. All provable, all simple science.

And, given physical evidence, unconnected.

Just out of curiosity, why do you think it is that 97% of scientists disagree with you? Is it all part of the liberal agenda? or are they just plain stupid?

Barely a drop in the bucket compared to the FAR FAR more billions in profits of utilities, coal companies and oil companies and the very few who profit from them and yet are always paranoid about all those silly regulations that protect the American people from the pollution they try to spew.

It seems as though there would be a level playing field between these billions of dollars and research grants, and the billions of dollars in exxon mobile profits. Its a bit strange that 97% of scientists globally would be fabricating the greatest scientific lie of all time because they wanted research grant money, rather than money from the oil and coal industry.

Your inability to follow the money to the masters bank coffers really is a stunning talent Mike. But at some point on that side of the political and religious spectrum that has invested so heavily in making vast sums of money for so few, someone will figure it out.

If all of those supposed profits were bankrolling skeptic research, you might have a point.

Since it's not....well.

AGW Research funding: ~80 billion
Exxon mobile funding: 23 million

YOU do the math.
