>When and if oil prices go up we will switch to other sources and methods.

That is definitely true. If it happens gradually we will all switch over without too much trouble. If it happens within (say) two years, our economy will adapt by collapsing, thus reducing the demand for gasoline.

>If i pull up to the pump and have my choice of gas at $10 or bio fuel for $2, I wont
>need a government program to help me make the choice.

Yep. That works if there is biofuel available that's compatible with modern cars. Thanks to conservatives, there will likely not be.

But let's take a more likely scenario:

You pull up with your gas powered car to the pump. Your options are gas for $10 a gallon, biodiesel for $5 a gallon, LNG for $5 a gallon or an electric charger for an equivalent of $1 a gallon. Which do you choose?

Likely scenario?

Hardly

but it can happen if the wackos you support get to keep influencing the gov as they have tried to do
"America will never be destroyed from the outside,
if we falter and lose our freedoms,
it will be because we destroyed ourselves."

>I would choose the $1 electric equilivant.

How would you charge your gas powered car with the electric equivalent?

I don't want govt deciding by specific subsidy the type of alternative. If subsidies are used to push things along, I would much rather that it be in the form of a performance goal and an award for achieving it, like the competition to put people in low earth orbit, there were specific targets that didn't dictate how to achieve them. I think fuel cells have more promise than battery powered alternatives, but don't want targeted industrial policy should making that decision.
People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am

apparently not enough to turn the planet into an oven, whatever it is.

It need not be an oven.. to kill off life in the ocean... coral bleaching anyone??

Also

Tell me what happens to single celled plants and animals when you change the pH of their environment?

Soylent green is starting look like a great investment opportunity.

You sound suspiciously like a DENIER.

Think of the children.

You sound suspiciously like a CULTIST.

Think of all that money to be taxed.

Over many post in the past I've always considered many here members of the GW religion. But now I think I've been wrong and think you might be onto something.

The GW movement is not a religion, but a CULT based on false science and feel good emotion.

>Been hearing that one since the early 70s.

1950's actually. Hubbert predicted that oil production in the US would peak in 1970. It peaked in 1973 and has been declining ever since.

So yes, good example.

Really, did it peak, or was it litigation, legislation that has caused it to decline? China doesn't seem to think it's peaked, after all they are drilling off our coast because we can't.

It is far better to get your false information from those who benefit the most like the mine owners and " energy" corporations that are doing so well by extracting the natural resources that supposedly belong to all Americans. And just to make sure you get the "right" information in their "Fair and Balanced" manner, they assail you with it daily from all of the media outlets that NewsCorp owns. If you hear it enough, it must be "fair and balanced".

Man made climate change arguments and running out of oil are good examples of bad conclusions

So you're claiming with a straight face that we aren't running out of oil?

I suppose it could be argued that the planet has been running out since the first day it was tapped.

So, if you want to take YOUR position literally, I probably cant.

But, I think I say with a straight face that you and I will not see that happen in our life time, our children's lifetime or our grandchildren or great grandchildren's life times ( as easily as you can from your high horse that I am wrong)

BTW

Let me ask you a question

Who were you on this site before you became Marinus?

Well I would think Mother Earth is continuing to make OIL as we blog along. Running Out, is far from accurate, after all it is a renewable source of energy, just takes a little longer to brew.

Well we can of course get our space program up and going and drill on Saturn's giant moon Titan. The price per gallon might be a little steep.
