Rick Perry: Just how bad was it?

It shows that a dumb-as-a-rock Texas governor who can't string an extemporaneous sentence together couldn't possibly be elected President in a million years.

*Rambling thoughts...prepares to speak ex culus*

I just don't buy that these guys are as dumb as they sound. I just think that many ameicans find stupidity appealing these days...it's what they can relate to. I think that's why Cain came out with that "smoking ad" in the first place - so the youtube vidiots are like "Da huh, lol...that's funny, I'm gonna vote for that guy, da huh!"

Plus, if people really think you're that stupid, it's much easier to pass off responsibility for your "mishaps."

"Meh, he's just an idiot not a war criminal..."

It's called playing dumb, a technique mastered by many at 6 years old...

Hey he is pandering to his audience in the fringe right.. and you are spot on... in your evaluation of them... well done for once... since you get to see them in their natural habitat every Sunday morning.

Ya...and here I am, posting in SC, every sunday morning.

Again, how about taking your own advice and stop assuming things?

Does anyone remember the debate with Bush the First with the lights?

In that debate, they were using colored lights to indicate how long the candidates could speak for with yellow meaning "getting close" and red meaning "you're done." So, Bush the First is giving his response when the moderator interrupts him to say that time is up. Bush states that the light had only turned yellow and that he still had time. The moderator admits his mistake and allows Bush to finish, only, Bush had completely lost his train of thought and couldn't remember what he was talking about and had no idea what to say next, so he stood there for a second like a confused Bush before simply stating, "I'm done!"

There was a time GWB was razor sharp at debating.
See the older examples in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pw4Bhmm22xo

That was before the GOP realized that their voter base liked idiots.

Al Gore lost votes (and thus the election) because he was too good at debating, at least in his own mind. Perhaps the GOP took the wrong conclusion from the experience.

I heard a number of people say they liked Bush because they thought he was a guy just like them, and Al Gore came off as being too smart and in a different world.

Like some other folks, I actually want the President to be smarter than I am; a whole lot smarter is just fine. He or she doesn't have to be one of the guys, just listen to the "one of the guys" advisor, just like all the other advisers.

I'm not sure, however, we need a "one of the guys" cabinet post :P:ph34r:

Al Gore came off as someone who THINKS he's too smart, but was much dumber and just ignorant of that fact. Smart people with no humility are to be guarded against. Dumb people with little humility are to be humored, but not voted into office.

In other words, he came across as a clueless arrogant idiot. Not an intelligent arrogant asshole.

That "in a different world" was trying to convey that -- you were more effective.

I never got that feeling from watching him, just that wooden affect that did nothing.

I know the rubes were loving this "gaff"

BUT.. if you were on an extended trip around the country day in and day out for a VERY extended time period to one state after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another gee what happens when you go to several states more than once?
Why you would have been to???.

I'd still know that there are only 50 States... This is a basic elementary school question.

And I was not Navy/Marine, but I know how to say Corpsman anyway.

Just admit he screwed it up... Not the end of the world.

Which has really been the point all along

People make mistakes

Obama, Perry and others

Doesnt make them stupid or unqualified

But the hypocisy of one sides views is fully visiable when viewed within this topic

The ability to understand and to comprehend... is the first step in having a CLUE.

I know some of the usual suspects here.... do seem to struggle horribly with that... but it was all the teachers fault:ph34r::ph34r::ph34r:

But he's more conservative than Reagan was, who was something of a conservative hero.

Romney is against amnesty for illegal immigrants; Reagan was for it.

Romney has said he would sign an amendment that outlaws abortion. Reagan signed a law that legalized it in California.

Romney has pledged to not raise taxes. Reagan raised payroll and gas taxes.

As for the taxes, Reagan had to work with the house and senate democrates
It is this working together thingy you lefties like to talk about

As for the other two? those would be issues today
Newt says he would deal with imigration simillarly

Still all better than the one we have today

different times then too

I would still vote for him
