That's easy, The US is worried that the present "moderate" Pakistan Government is overthrown by radicals and then loses control of it's large nuclear arsenal. Vietnam was never a nuclear threat to the US, It was all about containing the sphere of Soviet influence (the domino effect) I think the conventional wisdom is that Israel will never let Iran have a nuclear weapon. Pakistan has over 100 nuclear warheads dispersed through out the country.
