Of course our words speak best for themselves: [You] I would say that "religious terrorism" is still typically motivated by political discontent where religion is simply a scapegoat. [Me] Interesting point. I think you're on the right track about that; but thinking on various historical examples (of religious terrorism) from all over the world in, say, the past 100 years, I'd say the two motivations are inextricably merged.
