JohnRich 4 #1 September 20, 2011 We've all heard of the latest Obama scandal concerning the "green" company Solyndra, which he gave $528 million, only to have the company go bankrupt. Well, here is how America's hunters and sport shooters go green. News:Hunter Green "Today's green movement uses certain buzzwords -- organic, locavore, renewable -- to the wry amusement of 15 million to 20 million of us who've actually lived the eco-friendly lifestyle that these words describe. "We are hunters... "Hunters and sport-shooters now pay for more than 80 percent of all conservation and habitat programs in America. Through licenses, tags, permits, fees and special excise taxes on firearms, ammunition, bows and arrows, we've paid -- and state fish and game agencies have successfully plied -- more than $5.3 billion since 1939... "For us, the amusing irony is that American society, which has looked down its nose at hunters more sternly with each passing generation, is discovering that camouflage has been a primary shade of green all along."Full story: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/09/14/AR2008091401640.html Sportsmen contribute nearly $8 million daily toward conservation for everyone through licenses, excise taxes and other special taxes such as duck stamps. That equates to over $2.7 billion annually for conservation. For more than 80 years, sportsmen have paid more than $12.1 billion for on-the-ground projects in every state, protecting our natural environment and our fish and wildlife. rehmwa 2 #2 September 20, 2011 Quotesportsmen I take exception to that word being applied to hunting and fishing, etc. None of these are really 'sports'. I like "outdoorsman", or just call it hunters, fishermen, campers. sportsmen isn't accurate. of course this has nothing to do with the serious penalties pushed on the crowd in terms of fees, tags, taxes, etc - just a digression ... Driving is a one dimensional activity - a monkey can do it - being proud of your driving abilities is like being proud of being able to put on pants

Well then, you're going to have to tell us what your definition of "sportsman" is.
StreetScooby 5 #4 September 21, 2011 Quote ...tell us what your definition of "sportsman" is. Clearly you've never been to The Ranch. A sportsman is typically a heavily armed, hard drinking skydiver, amiable to most people. They're fun to hang out with. Good people. We are all engines of karma
