DaVinci 0 #26 September 20, 2011 QuoteWhere in the world can you get 7.62 Soviet for $75/M?? 75/K, not M. And it was a place called "Academy". They had some kind of issue and accidentally ordered WAY too much 7.62 X 39. I was told they were selling it for 75/k and went in to buy 2k. The sales person asked (almost begged) if I would take more. I ended up leaving with something like 6k rounds. I gave 1k rounds to a buddy of mine and kept the rest. I still have 4k rounds left. DaVinci 0 #27 September 20, 2011 QuoteWell, I don't find it much fun to shoot at stuff with a cheap gun and cheap ammo if it won't hit what I'm aiming at. If you limit the distance to 25 yards or less, and shoot at tin cans, I guess it'll work. I even quit buying the cheap brick ammo for my .22 rifle, once I found out how much better the competition grade .22 ammo was. The brick ammo just didn't cut it any more, because I knew I could be making hits, that the poor quality ammo was causing to miss. The difference between a bench shooter and a guy that likes to run and gun. I can't stand sitting in a bench with the gun on sandbags and trying to punch the same hole over and over in the paper target. I much prefer to set up multiple targets and hit them while moving and in teams. To each his own. Also, people who I take out shooting WANT to shoot the "AK". They hear so much about them that they want to try them out. People enjoy it more than my MP5SD. QuoteAs to the idea that cheaply manufactured doesn't necessarily mean a cheaply made gun: The AK has a receiver made of pieces of stamped sheet metal riveted or welded together. That's both cheap to make, and cheap in quality. It doesn't match a receiver that is milled out of a solid piece of steel, for durability. Uh, the AK is one tough SOB. If I had to choose an M16 or an AK in a swamp.... I'd take the AK.

Sorry, I'm old. "M" as in "per M" (x/M) is per thousand (per K). http://www.unc.edu/~rowlett/units/dictM.html 2nd definition, based on Roman numerals. Lucky you. A bunch of us got together a few years back and ordered a huge amount from J&G. They were giving great prices... If you ordered 20M (20K if you wish ). I had a pretty big stack for a while. Shot a bunch, sold some off. I had a nice little side table by my loading bench. Stacked crates. Heavy enough that it was really stable. Most kindergarteners that I know behave better than that. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit."
