kelpdiver 2 #28 August 22, 2011 QuoteDon't want to sound like the tin foil hat brigade but a pattern does seem to be emerging. Hugo Chavez started talking about dropping the dollar and using the Euro for oil transactions and was immediately turned upon by the USA and made Banana republic of Evil, (he then drop the idea and disappears from the potential attack radar) Saddam said he'd do the same and within six months he was at war with the West, Gaddafi suggests to the African Union that they drop the dollar and the Euro and use the Gold African Dinar and is attacked by NATO. This despite having yanked the chain of every western Government for 42 years with not much of a response (relatively speaking). If this was a dollar concern, wouldn't the US be a bit more involved in Libya? McCain was interviewed on Sunday as Tripoli fell and he's still barking that we didn't do shit there, could have ended his regime much sooner. Chavez has been humping our leg for years, but what exactly has the US done in response? He fell out of view more because of his terrible economic policies and the dramatic pullback in oil prices in 2008. Besides - with all the trouble the EU is having right now, threats to move to the Euro aren't as credible as they were a couple years ago. And China's yuan isn't suitable until the Chinese are willing to let it appreciate fairly, which damages their exports.

Skyrad 0 #30 August 23, 2011 So much for the much vaunted veracity of new outlets. This shows just how far reporting standards have fallen and how gullible the public have become. http://tinyurl.com/4x9mzjlWhen an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. SpeedRacer 1 #31 August 23, 2011 It doesn't explain how they got all those Libyan people to rise up against Gadaffy though. Maybe they were actually all animatronics controlled by the CIA. Skyrad 0 #33 August 23, 2011 Joking aside, thats part of the problem when one relies on single embedded reporting. With a single camera in the crowd its very difficult to tell if you're looking at 50 people of 5000. Now clearly there were shots in which you could see what appeared to be at least a thousand people. However, there is no telling over what dispersion of geography that density of support covers in a city. It was interesting on Sunday night when Alex Crawford drove away from Green Square it soon got very quiet and when she returned the crowd had dispersed and the rebels as she said had 'pulled back'. Theres to much hysteria and media sensation and not enough hard intelligence and critical reporting going on.When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Skyrad 0 #34 August 23, 2011 Not sure in general that comparisons between Iraq and Libya are particularly helpful as its a very different situation, more like Beirut than Bagdad. But that said..Yes he does. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. JohnRich 4 #35 August 23, 2011 While things are going down in Libya, I want the Lockerbie bomber too...
Skyrad 0 #36 August 23, 2011 Hopefully after all this is resolved the truth about exactly who is the real Lockerbie bomber will come out and justice can be done. Its possible that its Magrahi but unlikely, even people in Scotland including several of the families now doubt it. In fact theres even much doubt on Libya's involvement at all even though they accepted responsibility to have the sanctions removed. I'd also like to see WPC Yvonne Fletcher's killer captured and brought to justice where ever they are. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy.
